Pia Wurtzbach advises Miss Universe candidates to enjoy every experience

121416-PiaWurtzbach_PUSH.jpgReigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach recalled her own experiences when she was competing for the crown a year ago during a press conference at the office of Department of Tourism office last December 12. The press conference was part of the pre-publicity of the pageant which will be held in the country in January.

"Now it's getting real for me when I see the girls. When I look at their sashes, what countries they're from, I remember the girls that were my friends as well when I was a candidate. It brings back a lot of memories. I'm happy that the girls are here and they enjoyed themselves in Siargao yesterday," she stated.

Pia was also happy to see the girls enjoying the activities.

"I think it's great that the girls have had their first trip here in the Philippines. You are very lucky and this is just a taste of what's to come. There will be more activities come January. There will be more places for you to visit, more people for you to meet.”

She also advised the girls to enjoy every single experience they’ll have. Pia also told Miss Philippines Maxine Medina to have fun with other the girls.

"My advice is, just enjoy because this is really a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am not going to lie. I miss being Miss Philippines. Maxine, I miss being Miss Philippines. But I'll definitely miss being Miss Universe as well. Paula (Schugart, Miss Universe Organization president) should we retire together?" she laughed.

She also welcomed the candidates who will be back in town next month for the pageant.

"Welcome girls. Welcome everyone. I'm glad that you had a great time. That makes me happy. I can't wait till January."
