Pia Wurtzbach will continue working with the Miss Universe Organization.
Miss Universe officials and organizers gathered for the first kick-off celebration for Miss Universe 2016 at the Conrad hotel Manila, last December 10.
Together with 10 candidates from different countries, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach shared her excitement about the upcoming event.
"It's really feel grateful that finally it’s happening here. It was started with an idea with Paula Shugart and now here we are," she said.
Pia also acknowledged the efforts of people behind the Miss Universe organization and the organizing team to make a dream come true for Filipino fans of the prestigious beauty pageant.
"Thank you to everyone who made this happen, it's not only the dream of Paula Shugart, a dream of MUO, but it is also a dream of mine to bring back the competition here in our country to show the world the real beauty of the Philippines. It will also be great to have a proper final walk on stage in no less my home country of course," Pia explained.
She also added that she is quite not ready to give up her sash and pass it on to the new Miss Universe.
"You know what, I'm not quite ready to give up the sash and I think I'm really attached to it. But of course good luck to all the ladies," she said with a smile.
During an interview with Pia before the event, she revealed her plans after her reign. She revealed she was going back to New York to finish her prior commitments and continuously work with the Miss Universe Organization.
"I do plan on going back to New York and finish a lot of my commitments, to pass my reign actually this January so I'll be working closely with Miss Universe even after my reign," she ended.
