Although he’s relatively new to the entertainment industry
after only entering showbiz after his Pinoy
Big Brother stint in 2014, people have already noticed Joshua Garcia’s charm and
potential.
In fact, Joshua, who has done two teleseryes and two movies, is now being compared to Kapamilya star John Lloyd Cruz.
“Nakakatuwa po na nakakataba ng puso na sinasabi nila na next John Lloyd Cruz ako. Actually, kinikilig talaga ako kasi idol ko po talaga si John Lloyd. ‘Yun ‘yung kahit one-fourth ng narating ni kuya John Lloyd, gusto kong marating,” he said during the press conference for his upcoming movie Vince and Kath and James.
The press also noticed that he sounds like the Home Sweetie Home actor when he speaks. Hence, he was asked: does he deliberately copy John Lloyd’s style?
“’Di, malaki lang po talaga ‘yung boses ko po,” he answered. However, he reiterated that he “super” idolizes the seasoned actor.
In an interview with reporters after the event, Joshua said that although he is scared of people’s expectations, he assured that he is doing his best at work.
Director Olivia Lamasan, who directed John Lloyd’s movies The Mistress and In My Life, first took noticed of Joshua’s potential when she directed him in the movie, Barcelona: A Love Untold.
Admitting that she personally requested to work with him, she said, “When I saw him in PBB, sabi ko, ‘itong batang ‘to, parang meron ‘to.” Realizing that her gut feel was true, the director has advised Joshua, “Alam mo, anak, mag-focus ka lang because you have it.”
Joshua’s movie Vince and Kath and James is Star Cinema’s official entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
