Teen star Maris Racal herself admitted that she is at a loss as to when their film Vince and James and Kath (VKJ) is set to hit the theaters.
Joining Maris in the film, which is based from the socialserye Vince and Kath, are Joshua Garcia, Ronnie Alonte, and Julia Barretto.
“Tapos na, na-shoot na namin lahat, na-cut na namin lahat and I’m sure na na-cut na,” she shared in an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph during the recently-concluded Araneta Christmas Tree Lighting event which was graced by several Kapamilya stars.
With their playdate pushed back because of The Unmarried Wife, several quarters are now speculating that their film might just become a 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival entry.
To this Maris said, “Hindi ko din alam na pinasok.”
“Kung MMFF siya, oh my God, pressure. Super happy pero more of pressure kasi hindi mo naman alam ‘yung mga makakalaban mong movies, you’ll never know," she continued.
As of the moment though, the rumored MMFF contenders are Vice Ganda and Coco Martin’s Super Parental Guidance, Vic Sotto’s Enteng Kabisote 10 and the Abangers and the star-studded Mano Po 7.
VKJ happens to be Maris’s first title film under Star Cinema.
“It was very fun. Marami akong expectations and impressions na na-break. The whole time hindi ako na-hassle, hindi ako nangarag. Super chill at super at home ang feeling namin. Tsaka ‘yung acting namin do’n akala ko super strict sila pero they’ve allowed us to be ourselves,” she said.
Maris’s character Maxine is said to be the comic relief in the light romantic film by Theodore Boborol.
“Na-challenge ako kasi sabi ni Direk prior palang to doing my first scene, sabi niya ‘Oh ikaw ang comic relief dito, ikaw ang magpapatawa.’ Sabi ko ‘Huh? Hindi naman ako nakakatawa Direk,’” she said. “Sabi niya ‘Kaya mo ‘yan. Bakla ka dito. Hindi ikaw si Maris ng PBB, hindi din ikaw ‘yung nasa We Will Survive dito.’”
The GirlTrends member explained that she made it a point to watch a number of comedy films in order to be able to channel the perfect comic relief, one that is similar to Kim Chiu’s character on Bride for Rent.
“Ginawa ko siyang iba, instead of sobra sobrang hyper na baklang girl ginawa ko siyang subtle but funny,” she said.
“Hindi ko sinobrang OA. Kasi pansin ko kapag mas simple lang, mas nakakatawa,” she ended.
