Ruffa Gutierrez admits there are new revelations about her past marriage in ‘The Truth and Lies My Mother Told Me.’
With her new book The Truth and Lies My Mother Told Me now out in the market after a year in production, Ruffa Gutierrez said she is proud of her newest accomplishment. “Unang una nagpapasalamat ako na after one year my book is finally out. The Truth and Lies My Mother Told Me ay isang napakahabang proseso pero ngayon na nakalabas na siya I’m very proud of it. I’m now an author! So it’s another cap that I can say to my journey in show business. I feel grateful. I feel very fulfilled that ABS-CBN gave me the opportunity to have my own book and to share my life and my journey with all of you so sana magustuhan niyo,” she shared during her book launch held last November 29 in Taguig city.
The new book author admitted that her mom Annabelle Rama definitely had a big say in the final draft of her book. "Alam niyo up to the last minute my ever protective mother ay talagang nag-i-interfere. At last minute talagang sinabi niya na, ‘Kailangan basahin namin yung libro.’ Ako naman, imbis na magsisi ako na lumabas yung libro na hindi ko pinabasa sa mommy at daddy ko, pinabasa ko sa kanila at ang dami niyang gustong patanggalin. Sabi ko, ‘Ma, pag tanggalin mo (yan) hindi na kuwento ng buhay ko yan.’ I want the book to be authentic. I want it to be from the heart. Wala naman akong sisiraan na tao. It’s just me. This is how I was. I’ve been through ups and downs. I’ve been through loves, I’ve been through tragic loves, complicated loves, young love na akala natin forever love. Ganun talaga ang buhay di ba? So now that I look back, it’s my life and I want it share it with everyone tutal my life is an open book,” she explained.
A year ago, it was her mom who launched her own book ‘Day Hard! but Ruffa said her book was not made as an answer to her mom’s book. "Alam niyo ba ang nakakaloka, mas nauna yung libro ko okay. Mas naunang na-conceptualize yung book ko pero sa sobrang tagal ko at talagang binusisi namin itong libro na ito, nauna pa yung libro ni mommy na ‘Day Hard. So this is maybe my answer sa lahat ng mga sinabi niya,” she added.
Ruffa said The Truth and Lies My Mother Told Me hopes to set women on the path to finding the right man. Which is why she tried her best to share parts of her life that were applicable but not to pulge too much especially delicate details about her marriage to Yilmaz Bektas. "Actually yun ang pinakamahirap napapano ko i-ku-kuwento yung bahagi na yun ng buhay ko na ingat na ingat ako na wala akong masaktan and at the same time hindi ako nagsinungaling sa publiko. I remember kasi during that time hindi ko ma-explain lahat sa mga interviews ko noon sa The Buzz so I think with this book you will learn more, na maintindihan niyo talaga yung pinagdaanan ko. Ganun pala si Ruffa, kaya pala ganun siya. Mas maiintindihan niyo ako,” she shared.
As for her daughters Lorin and Venice, the 42-year-old mother said she wants to inspire them as well. "Well I told them that my book is dedicated to them. I have two girls and I want them to learn from my mistakes. I want them to learn from my journey in life. And sa tingin ko naman lahat ng pinagdaanan ko at lahat ng nangyari sa buhay ko it made me the woman that I am today. So I want my daughters to know that you don’t need a man in order to survive. What’s important is that you love yourself first. Kasi pag minahal mo yung sarili mo, it’s so easy for you to love other people. Hindi tayo kailangan maging clingy. So I want to be leaders. I want them to be strong women,” she said.
Another thing Ruffa is proud of when it comes to her books have been the initial feedback she has gotten from those who have already gotten advanced copies. "Well the boss of National Bookstore she actually instagrammed it and sinabi niya once she started reading it, hindi na niya binaba yung libro. So that says something that the owner of National Bookstore who has read thousands of books, para sabihin niya na hindi niya mababa yung libro ko, talagang I feel very honored and very flattered. Ang gusto ko talaga pag binasa nila itong librong ito, they will not only learn something but they will be excited and they won’t be bored. Kumbaga sa pelikula, every chapter is exciting,” she said.
