Christine Bersola-Babao admits she wants to become an indie film producer

112816-ChristineBersola-Babao_PUSH.jpgAfter being in showbiz for more than two decades, Christine Bersola-Babao admits she is enjoying raising her family as well as venturing into doing off-camera work this year as well. "I still have two kids. One is 11 years old and one is six so meron na akong tweener tapos meron pa akong kid. I’m still married to Julius. I’m enjoying motherhood kasi I’m a hands-on mom. Now I’ve ventured into producing kasi I’ve always wanted to produce and provide content. I’m still a host for corporate events as well. But I’m first and foremost a mother and a wife,” she shares during the Electrolux NutriFresh refrigerator launch held last November 23 in Makati city.

The 46-year-old TV host says she is enjoying her new role as a producer. "It’s wonderful. You’re the boss (laughs). You have complete control kasi you're the producer so you greenlight the project, you give the topic, you meet the clients, ganyan. It’s like having your own mini network, ganun. Now I produce a financial literacy show kasi we really need to educate Pinoys on how to be financially literate and how to make money and protect their money para may pang-retirement sila. But that’s only the beginning kasi I intend to produce more content and more shows in the future like a parenting show, a travel show, and a cooking show,” she explains.

Even after 13 years of marriage, Tintin admits that her husband newscaster Julius Babao has become even more supportive of her interest in producing. "He was supportive. In fact he lent me the initial money, the seed fund to produce it. Ganun siya ka-supportive. But I already paid him back (laughs). So that’s how supportive Julius is kasi alam naman niya ever since na gusto ko mag-produce and in the future we really want to produce an indie film,” she says.

During the Electrolux NutriFresh event, Tintin shares why it was only natural that she and her husband veer into producing. "Kasi we were both Film majors in U.P. Napunta lang kami broadcasting pero gusto namin someday, marami kaming crazy ideas. In fact we already talked to several actors and actresses if they can act in our indie film pero sobrang busy ng mga kausap namin na mga sikat so wala pag oras. But once they’re okay with their schedule okay na. But we have the script na. (Mag-start na kami) kung kailan available na yung actress (laughs). Kasi it’s really meant for her. She (already) agreed. Nagustuhan niya yung storya. Indie na comedy. Kasi we have investors na, we talked to the actress na, we have the script so yung time na lang. We don’t have a director yet,” she shares.
