Actor-politician Richard Gomez felt vindicated when self-confessed druglord Kerwin Espinosa cleared his name in his testimony.
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez’s name has been cleared from allegations of being part of the drug trade when self-confessed Eastern Visayas drug lord Kerwin Espinosa said he never had a transaction with Gomez.
“Di kaya ako barilin niyan? MAD ‘yan, wala ‘yang kaalam-alam," Espinosa said during a Senate’s inquiry last Wednesday, November 23.
The actor-politician then said he felt vindicated with Espinosa’s testimony.
“Sinabi ko talaga ‘yan dati, dito sa Ormoc, na 'pag nagkaron tayo ng problema sa droga, magbabarilan talaga tayo dito... It’s really a vindication na talagang from the start sinabi ko talaga na wala kaming kinalaman sa drug trade na ‘yan,” he told ABS-CBN News.
Gomez also suspects that Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido of Albuera, Leyte PNP is the alleged “mastermind” behind these allegations against him.
“He is really the mastermind of all these. Makikita mo naman lahat ng question sa Senate, hindi niya talaga madugtong-dugtong, hindi niya maitahi ang storya niya,” he said.
It may be recalled that Gomez filed a case against Espenido and CIDG’s Chief Inspector Leo Laraga and Heidi Yutrago when his name was tagged as one of the alleged protectors of the drug trade.
In fact, Espinosa even said that Laraga was one of the cops who received drug money.
