Mother Lily Monteverde on Mano Po 7 not making it to the MMFF: ‘Talagang naiyak ako’

Well, of course, I feel so sad. When I heard about it, talagang naiyak ako. But it’s there already, wala na tayong magagawa,” reaksyon niya.

Patuloy pa ni Mother Lily, “I heard daw na we are number 8 or 9 but it’s really sayang. Sana naman, after this year, next year festival they should understand na yung mga poor people na nasa C, D, E, like yung carpenters and ordinary workers, meron silang bonus and once they get their bonus, they bring their whole family to the theater to watch the movies, ‘yon  ang bonding nila pag Pasko, eh. But anyway, let’s hope next year the entire system will be changed.”

You know, I’m not against indie movie because I was the original na gumagawa niyan, sina Lav Diaz, Jeffrey Jeturian, lahat sila.

“We also had a festival, do you still remember? Kung saan-saan namin dinala ang mga pelikula. But you know, there’s a time for the indie movies but not Christmas season. Christmas is for the family,” pagdidiin pa niya.

I’m saying this without anger, without bitterness

“Pero all of us, we have to learn, kasi ang tagal na natin diyan. For the past 50 years na in the movie industry, talagang mahirap ang pelikula, mahirap ang pera, mahirap talaga,” sabi pa niya.

If there are 6 indies, I doubt makukuha nila yung target na P1.5 billion for this year.

“Alam mo, ang mga producers should be reunited. Sabi ko nga kay Malou (Santos), Star Cinema is the biggest scorer, higher gross, di ba? She should be the leader, she should act on that, am I right?” balik-tanong ng Regal Entertainment producer.

Showing na sa Dec. 14 ang “Mano Po 7” ng Regal na pinagbibidahan nina Richard Yap, Jean Garcia, Jessy Mendiola, Enchong Dee, Jake Cuenca, Janella Salvador, Marlo Mortel at marami pang iba.
