Pero why would you let something like that affect you? Parang smile ka na lang and move on, wala ka namang gagawin,” sabi ulit niya.Eh, kapag galing sa gays ang indecent proposals ano ang kadalasang ino-offer?“Gays walang masyado. Walang nag-offer. Women may nag-offer,” sabay tawa niya.Dagdag pa ng hunky actor, “Ang parang ginagawa nila, eh, tinatanong nila kung anong kailangan ko… but I think a lot of them takot silang lumapit sa akin because they know my background -- that they know that I come from a well-off family. So parang ‘hindi gagana kay Derek yan.’“Kaya I don’t think there’s not a specific amount that’s given, it’s more like, ‘halika, gusto mo shopping kita.’ I always say, ‘no, it’s okey,’” paliwanag ni Derek.Hindi rin daw siya takot sa gay at lalong hindi homophobic.“I’m not scared of gays. I’m very fond of gays. My mom is a big fan of gays. Yung vault sa bahay, wala sa amin ang may alam nu’ng code kundi yung gay niyang katiwala. So lagi kaming may gay sa bahay so I grew up with gay people.”Naalala din ni Derek ang kuwento tungkol sa bading niyang kaibigan.“There was one time I had a gay friend who went over the line na ginanun (pinisil) yung puwet ko and I put him up against the wall and I said, ‘sayang naman yung friendship natin, wag mong sirain, may respeto ako sa yo dapat irespeto mo ako.’ Hanggang ngayon kaibigan ko pa rin siya, mas matalik pa yung friendship namin ngayon,” pagtatapos ng hunk actor.
