Pia Wurtzbach talks about why she never gave up on her dreams.
As the reigning Miss Universe titleholder, it isn’t any wonder that Pia Wurtzbach would be chosen as one of the newest brand ambassadors for beauty brand Olay. The 27-year-old beauty queen was launched in a new ad campaign along with fellow celebrities Janella Salvador and Charo Santos.
"There was this one Olay commercial that I’ll never forget. It’s the one with Miriam Quiambao and I remember seeing it as a kid and I always wanted to be Miss Universe. And when I found out I was going to be an Olay ambassador I just thought of that moment. It’s like a dream come true and working with Janella and Ma’am Charo is like, I’ve known Ma’am Charo since I was a kid, an awkward kid (laughs). But here I am now. I’m really humbled by it. With Janella also we have the same handler in ABS-CBN Star Magic from before so we have that connection as well. So it’s great to be back home,” she shared during the Olay #BestBeautiful event held last October 6.
Having been based mostly in New York City ever since she won the worldwide pageant, Pia said there’s no big secret to how she attracts success. "I think it just comes with the job and I just try to focus on why I’m here and why I do what I do. I try to focus on that and just try to remember why I wanted to be Miss Universe in the first place and what the job entails and the reason our motto in Miss Universe is ‘Confidently Beautiful’ is simply because of that. You just have to work on yourself and work on your strengths and that’s when your natural beauty will show,” she explained.
The Fil-German beauty also admitted it was not an easy road getting to where she is now. But Pia said she was happy she never gave up. "It was a challenge for me to get where I am today. I think a lot of people know how many times I tried and how many years it took me and really the lesson I learned there is don’t give up on your dreams and you hold on to it like your life depends on it because you never know when that opportunity will come. And if you want to give up, you don’t know if that might be the moment where the opportunities come in. So my advice would be to just be yourself and that’s when the colors start to come in, that’s when you start to glow. That’s when the universe will open up its doors for you,” she said.
