Despite the postponement, Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach remains positive that she will be able to visit her hometown of Cagayan de Oro.
During her homecoming press conference, Pia shared that after staying in Manila, she will be flying to San Francisco for an undisclosed commitment.
“I want to stay longer but sayang kasi ito eh,” she said.
Pia’s itinerary included a homecoming parade on January 25, a number of courtesy calls, and other commitments, which includes gracing her best friend Pauleen Luna’s wedding to Vic Sotto on the 30th.
Reports about her flying to her hometown started after CDO Second District Representative Rufus Rodriguez announced it on his official Facebook page. According to his post, Pia’s CDO homecoming is happening on the 29th.
However, he quickly clarified, in a separate post, that the event would be postponed.
“I also want to mention that I am looking forward to eventually visiting Cagayan de Oro. Hopefully, when I come back,” said Pia.
“It’s a very hectic schedule. If you will see my itinerary, I’ve never had that kind of itinerary ever. It’s a miracle that I can still get some sleep somewhere there,” she added.
Pia underscored that “I would like to visit home and give them like a homecoming as well. We are working on it.”
Meanwhile, with her schedule now managed by the Miss Universe organization, the next question was whether or not Pia would be able to fly home for the annual Binibining Pilipinas coronation night this coming March.
“Definitely, we want to come back to the Philippines for the coronation of the next Binibining Pilipinas,” she started.
She ended, “Of course, I want to be here and do that. You know, I like to experience it again. This is home for me. So, if the schedules permit or if the schedules align, that would be my priority.”
