Gloc-9 releases first free single

The rapper, during the recently concluded launch of his newest single “Pareho Tayo,” believes that it is high time for him to give back to his avid supporters.

The said realization apparently happened after he staged his 18th year anniversary concert last year titled Gloc-9 Live: Ang Kwento ng Makata.

He stressed that “for me napakaliit na bagay na nito” especially since “Katulong kong gumawa ng kantang ito ay ang aking mga kabanda sa Gloc-9. Sila ang nagayos ng arrangement and nagkataon na may isang maliit na home studio ‘yung guitar player if ever na meron man kaming gastos dito ay for remixing and mastering lang.

The inspiration behind the song, according to Gloc-9, was the fact that “Kahit na magkakaiba tayo ng antas sa buhay sa dulo po ay pare-pareho tayo.”

Apart from getting that message across, Gloc-9 also hoped to touch the hearts of his listeners, especially the OFWs.

But what is the satisfaction of releasing a free single?

Meanwhile, as one of the most socially aware performers today, Gloc-9 clarified that his songs do not really have what many consider as a “call to action.”

I can only hope na sana ay may naidulot na maganda sakanya ang kantang ‘yun,” he explained.

Just last year, Gloc-9 released his first ever independently released song title “Payag” which talks about how Filipinos tend to settle for anything more than what they deserve and allow certain misfortunes to happen to them.
