For the first time since news of their split last year, Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Sam Concepcion will be working together on a new project.
Sam and Jasmine are part of the restaging of monologue series for millennials, by millennials, about millennials titled No Filter 2.0 which will run from October 3 to October 25 at the Power Mac Black Box Theater, Circuit Makati.
According to Sam, there was no reservation on his part when he was tapped by the show's director Toff de Venecia to be part of the play.
"Without thinking I said, ‘Yes let's do it’ because first I haven't been in the theater stage for years now and I watched the show. I watched the first run and I absolutely loved it," he began during the show's recently-concluded press conference.
"And I remember talking to Toff afterwards and saying 'Uy if you happen to have a rerun or something, count me in naman. So there. No, I have no reservations. I wanted to do it and I'm really, really excited to do this," Sam added.
Interestingly, Jasmine revealed that she actually chose Sam to be her role's alternate.
"When I was told that there was going to be a rerun I looked at my schedule and I knew I couldn't do it. I wanted to do it alone but I know I'm going to need a partner for this to actually make the show successful. So we were brainstorming who would be the best alternate. We named a few girls and I wasn't really comfortable giving it to them and so we thought of guys," related Jasmine.
The young actress said that she chose Sam from the list of potential actors that the show has "because I was most comfortable with him and handing over my monologues to him because I know he can fulfill it."
The Your Face Sounds Familiar participant for his part takes pride in the fact that he is working with his ex.
"Well, seriously speaking I have the highest respects for her talent and for what she does. And like I said, I saw the show. So it really is quite the privilege to be working with her and see her brilliance," he said, adding that he considers the show as a "learning and growing experience."
Since they parted ways December of last year, Sam and Jasmine have been quoted in reports as saying that they have yet to achieve closure in their relationship. Now that they are working together again, Jasmine expressed positivity that this would rekindle their friendship, at the very least.
"Yeah, of course. I mean, ever since naman we have made sure to communicate as civil as possible. Knowing Sam, he doesn't like conflict and same here. I try to avoid it as much as possible. So we try to reach out to each other in a way that we avoid conflicts," she explained.
Is there a possibility for them to get back together?
"We both say this but the answer is I don't know," said Sam, which was echoed by Jasmine as well.
