EXCLUSIVE: Denise Laurel on joining 'Your Face Sounds Familiar': 'I'm here to learn'

The <i>Kapamilya</i> star said that she has always wanted to perform again and that came true when she joined the show.</div><div><br/></div><div>'I am so happy beyond words, like off-the-roof happy. <i>Sobrang saya ko kahit MWF (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) ako nagta</i>-taping for the soap <i>(Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita) tapos TTH </i>(Tuesday, Thursday) <i>minsan sa Your Face</i> okay lang, go<i>, kasi </i>if it's really something you want to do, you find the way to do it and this is my way of doing what I really want to do,' she said in an interview with Push.com.ph.</div><div><br/></div><div>Denise shared that joining the show is a learning process since she is able to discover her inner performer. 'Well for me I think the whole process is a realization. Hindi ako sumali para manalo. Sumali ako to get to know my performer side again. It's been a really long time since I have performed,' she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>The actress further relayed that there was a point in time when she almost gave up performing. Fortunately, Your Face Sounds Familiar gave her the opportunity to sing again. </div><div><br/></div><div>'I feel like there was a time in my life that I kind of let go<i>. Sabi ko </i>'Nobody ever wants to hear me sing anyway. I wont take care of my voice, <i>Bakit pa?</i> I'll just focus on what they gave me.' And what they gave me is acting so I'll give my best but p<i>arang na-miss ko talaga</i> and that's how I was discovered performing on musical theater.</div><div><br/></div><div>'<i>Parang </i>singing, acting and dancing the way I learned i<i>t iisa 'yun</i> eh so <i>pag hinati-hati mo tapos tinanggal mo 'yung isa</i> para lang <i>akong pilay na naglalakad na nagma</i>-make do of what I have so now that I have it all, I feel like I'm so happy and I'm getting to know myself each week. <i>Kasi dati sobrang kahit saan mo ako itapon kaya ko</i> but it wasn't my time. Everybody has their own time and I feel like this will bring me to my time to be able to sing,' she stated.</div><div><br/></div><div>On who she thinks is her biggest competition in the show, she replied, 'Myself. I'm getting in my own way. Sometimes I worry a lot or when I'm thinking too much. I don't find my friends competition because I love them so much, actually <i>kung pwede lahat kami manalo or kung sila lahat manalo okay lang sa akin.</i> I'm not here to win, I'm here to learn,' she said.</div>
