During a bloggers conference with Kim Chiu for the upcoming Star Cinema film, Etiquette for Mistresses, the Kapamilya star revealed what made her go out of her comfort zone and accept this project.
“It’s something na hindi sila sanay na makita ako. Syempre sa kahit na anong bagay, gusto natin may bago so parang, by this time, I have to offer something new to my audience. Hindi naman shocking na very new… Pero it’s something different,” she said.
She also talked about working with award-winning Chito Rono. “May joke time kaya kami sa set na ako ‘yung gagraduate ng Magna Cum Laude sa atin sa dami ng awards ko kay Direk,” she quipped. During her interview on Aquino and Abunda Tonight, it was revealed that the director often called her attention for doing ad libs.
When asked about what she learned from the director, she replied that her attention would often get called because of her teleserye and soap opera acting, “Isa doon ‘yung teleserye acting. Ilan beses niya sa’kin sinabi ‘yun.” Moreover, she was also challenged to bring something new to the table as he would tell her, “Bigyan mo ko ng bago, nakita ko na ‘yan, napanood ko na ‘yan.” “So kailangan kong umangat, kailangan kong gandahan,” she said.
Nonetheless, she said that she is open to his corrections. “Okay lang. Maganda ‘yung pinagsasabihan ako. I’m open naman sa mga tinutuwid ‘yung mga mali kong gawain,” she said, adding that it feels good to accomplish a Chito Rono movie.
After accomplishing a big project such as Etiquette for Mistresses, what kind of project does she want to do now?
“Kahit ano, depende sa kuwento and depende sa moral lesson. Ako gusto ko ‘pag tumatanggap ako ng isang project, meron akong lesson na matutunan. Kung may lesson akong natutunan, I’m sure ‘yung audience ko, meron din silang matutunan. ‘Yan ang important sa’kin every project,” she answered.
