It’s been two years since her last teleserye Maria Mercedes in ABS-CBN and Jessy Mendiola admitted she is looking forward to her upcoming new soap You’re My Home with JC De Vera, Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.
The 22-year-old actress admits her new series is going to be more than your average love story.
“More on halo-halo siya. Mom and dad ko dito si Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta. It’s like a Romeo and Juliet family. So nag-start yung kuwento namin na siya si Romeo (JC), ako si Juliet,” she shared during the Shine Kapamilya trade launch held last September 22 at the Marriott hotel Grand Ballroom in Pasay city.
Jessy said that the developing relationship with her new leading man JC is going to be a complicated one onscreen. “Malaki yung galit ko sa kanya kasi it centers on kinidnap niya yung kapatid ko nung mga bata pa kami. So alam mo yung struggle between falling in love with someone and we are not really sure if he did do it? So parang I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt as I was falling for him na,” she says.
When asked if she felt any similarity to her character when it comes to overcoming trials and challenges when it comes to love, Jessy revealed they have some similarities but only when it comes to family.
“No naman. Well kasi my character she really loves her family a lot and ako I love my family a lot. Pero sa struggle ng love and family wala namang ganun,” she explained.
With Jessy’s current relationship status with JM De Guzman still uncertain, there has never been any issues when it comes to each other’s family members showing disapproval during their on-and-off again relationship these past few years.
Earlier this month, many hoped to see the couple walk the Star Magic Ball red carpet together in their first showbiz outing together since admitting they had gotten back together. But Jessy divulged that they decided to just skip the event in light of recent events that transpired a week before the ball. “To avoid issues and away it was best not go. Kasi honestly I’m not okay naman,” she said.

The Kapamilya actress obviously still looked shaken up after admitting she had to deal with bashing from fans of the actor.
