Angelica Jane Yap, now popularly known as “Pastillas Girl” caught the attention of the people when she shared her story on It’s Showtime’s segment “adVice Ganda.” She got the name “Pastillas Girl” when she uploaded a video sharing a recipe of Filipino delicacy pastillas with some hugot lines.
In an exclusive interview with Push.com.ph, she shared that the video was made merely for entertainment and that she was already healed from her heartbreak when she filmed it.
“Oo, actually ano siya katuwaan lang. Nung time na in-upload yun, actually tinatanong nga nila kung bakit ko daw yun in-upload ang sabi ko it is for fun lang siya talaga. Tinatanong nila kasi bakit daw may hugot so parang ako, yes kung sa hugot at sa hugot meron akong huhugutin but at the time na ginawa ko yung video, I was really okay na,” she said.
Pastillas Girl also shared that she was really affected with her last relationship because it involved a friend. After their break up, her ex-boyfriend is now in a relationship with Ms. Pastillas’ friend.
“I had five boyfriends so every relationship really has a heartbreak ngayon yung latest one it was really hard kasi she was my friend. Sakit ‘di ba? Totoo hindi naman lahat ng tao yung boyfriend mo magiging jowa siya nung friend mo and naniniwala kasi ako sa ‘bro code’ and alam mo yun even if I were in the position nung friend ko I won’t do that.”
She also didn’t expect that the video she made would be an instant hit on the Internet. She even joked and said, “Sa totoo lang kung alam kong mag te-trend yung video na yun sana ginandahan ko pa yung sarili ko. Bagong gising ako nun as in pagkagising ko ‘friend! Ay maganda yan. Go! Pak! Acting! Ganon!”
Despite her video being viral, she can still do her normal activities but she admitted she’s getting recognized in public.
“Hindi kasi sa totoo lang paglabas ko ng Showtime nung Friday nakapag-jeep pa ako nakakapag-bus pa ako. Pero [ngayon] naki-kilala na nila ako may nag papa-picture na kahit saan ka pumunta,” she shared.
Angelica added she also feels flattered with the attention.
“Na fa-flatter ako kasi hindi ako sanay sa ganitong attention, simple lang buhay ko nun e punta ako ng work, uwi ako.yun ang buhay ko pag may boyfriend ako, date minsan yun lang.”
After sharing her story on the noontime show, a lot of people professed their admiration towards her but two men Topher from Bulacan and Jess from Bacolod, stood out. How does she feel being courted again?
“Sa totoo lang nakaka-kilig yun, nakaka-kilig kasi di ba mami-miss mo yung feeling na ay may nanliligaw nanaman sayo, may nag kaka-gusto sayo. Kasi parang pag dumaan ka sa heartbreak parang ‘Ang pangit ko ba? Bakit lagi nalang akong nasasaktan parang di ko ba deserve maging happy? Alam ko mas madaming babae diyan pero hindi ba ako mas maganda kagaya niya para piliin niya ko,” she explained.
At present, since she’s already moved on from her last relationship, she now appreciates her single life. However, she’s not closing her doors if ever someone would pursue her.
“Oo, ngayon ko na enjoy na parang ay masaya rin palang maging single no, parang hindi siya in a way na minsan maiisip mo kapag nakaka-kita ka ng couple na ‘Hala, meron silang love life ako walang jowa’ ayun pero may mga times lang na malulungkot ka pero most of the time maraming time kasi sa ibang bagay. Feeling ko dun ko nakikita yung self-worth ko,
“Okay na ako, yun lang hindi ako naka abot sa three month rule dahil magadalawang buwan palang yata siya pero why not di ba? I’ll open myself,” she added.
With her current popularity, if given a choice, would she rather be in showbiz and be an actress or would she have a love life instead?
“Kung may option ako ay naku kung ako mag artista na lang wag na mag jowa,” she answered with a laugh.
She would like to work with the It’s Showtime! hosts though if ever she would be given a chance to be in showbiz.
“Sila lang [Showtime family] seryoso. Kasi ako nanonood talaga ako Showtime. Kapag break namin sa office oh, Showtime.”
Pastillas Girl also revealed she’ll be uploading another recipe with hugot soon.
