During the grand presscon of Heneral Luna the movie which opens on September 9, Epy Quizon shared with the press his family's decision to not continue with the auction of his father Dolphy’s properties. According to Epy who plays national hero Apolinario Mabini in the movie, their family feels that Dolphy has been trying to send them a message from beyond.
“Maraming nag-back out kasi sa Dolphy theater so parang ayaw nila mag-bid sa harap ng ibang tao. Of course first time in the Philippines na merong auction ng properties di ba? After nung open auction nag silent auction kami. We are still selling the properties pero ayaw na muna namin na ganung scale. Kasi parang ayaw niya eh,” he explained during the Heneral Luna presscon held last August 27 in Victorino's restaurant in Quezon city.
His elder brother Eric is still the head administrator, but he and his 17 siblings all make their decisions together regarding the properties. It has to be consensus eh. Kailangan gusto ng lahat. Pag ayaw ng isa, ibig sabihin walang mangyayari. Ganyan yung nangyari after ng auction, ang daming nagkaroon ng doubts sa auction,” he admitted.
With regards to his father's former partner Zsa Zsa Padilla who has found love again, Epy said he has nothing bad to say. “I'm happy for her. At least she's happy. Basta masaya kami. You know he's very well educated and he knows how to face it, alam niya kung paano humarap sa tao. You know he loves Zsa Zsa. I don't want to speak for us pero ako tanggap ko. I will never be sure and I don't want to answer for my other siblings,” he shared.
Epy said Zsa Zsa would never have to ask them for permission for things like that. (laughs) Kumabaga I don't want to say my father is the past but my father is in heaven na. Of course my father would have agreed also for her to be happy in this lifetime, bakit naman namin i-hi-hinder yung happiness ng isang tao just because of personal reasons?” he added.
In fact, the Heneral Luna actor said he would even attend the ceremony if Zsa Zsa and Conrad tie the knot. Pero siguro if ever,” he admitted.
Epy also implored those who still take it against Zsa Zsa for finding love again to take the same stance as him. “Huwag na tama na. Namatayan na nga yung tao, pabayaan niyo na maging masaya. For the bashers I know nasaktan siguro sila dahil siguro para sa kanila its too soon and all that. All I can do is wish her happiness and who am I to stop her from being happy? Who are we to stop them from being happy? If they're happy together then they're happy together. The concern is with one another. I'm pretty sure if ako naman ang masaya na umiibig ako, she would be happy for me. So ganun lang yun, yung concern namin is parang with one another. Ang Quizon basta at the end of the day nagmamahalan tayo,” he said.
