Richard Yap will be testing his dramatic acting chops as part of ‘Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita.’
Richard Yap is finally back to doing soaps as part of the afternoon serye Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita
as Vina Morales's love interest.
It's almost been a year since his groundbreaking soap Be Careful With My Heart lorded over the daytime block. Due to its phenomenal success, various awards, and a notable two-year run, Richard is now being hailed as "Daytime King."
The entrepreneur-turned-actor in a recent interview just shrugged off the new title.
“It’s just a title. It doesn’t really affect who we are,” he said. “It’s flattering, I’m thankful to be given a title. Pero it doesn’t mean na we rest on all our [work] we have to work hard for everything we do.”
Despite this title though, many have yet to be satisfied by Richard's acting prowess. His role in the series has earned him roles in movies such as Praybeyt Benjamin 2, You're Still the One and the upcoming Felix Manalo.
To this he said, “You can’t really please everyone. Tayo naman, we always try to improve ourselves."
This is not to say though that he's not giving his best to acting.
“As long as I do my best and as long as the network is happy with me, the ratings are going well," he said.
According to Richard, he has no issues with the fact that there are those criticizing his performance
“If it's constructive criticism naman, it’s no problem. Huwag lang titirahin ka below the belt, just because may gusto lang silang sabihin," he said.
Richard also added, “Everyone has a right to his own opinion, siguro better if they keep it to themselves.”
After being appreciated in a lighthearted soap, Richard's acting chops would be tested in the drama genre as part of Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita.
“It’s something new for me, medyo mas madrama siya. So, sabi ko, sige, subukan natin," he said.
Admittedly though, Richard was a little apprehensive that he would be treading into unfamiliar waters with his new project.
“May konting apprehension kasi, sabi ko, medyo madrama ito. So, nag-isip din ako, pero we go where we are required to go, to where we are asked," he ended.
