Richard Yap downplays 'Daytime King' title

<div><img src='' alt='082815-richardyap_PUSH.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>Richard Yap is finally back to doing soaps as part of the afternoon serye <i>Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita</i> as Vina Morales's love interest.</div><div><br/></div><div>It's almost been a year since his groundbreaking soap <i>Be Careful With My Heart</i> lorded over the daytime block. Due to its phenomenal success, various awards, and a notable two-year run, Richard is now being hailed as 'Daytime King.'</div><div><br/></div><div>The entrepreneur-turned-actor in a recent interview just shrugged off the new title.</div><div><br/></div><div>“It’s just a title. It doesn’t really affect who we are,” he said. “It’s flattering, I’m thankful to be given a title. <i>Pero</i> it doesn’t mean <i>na </i>we rest on all our [work] we have to work hard for everything we do.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Despite this title though, many have yet to be satisfied by Richard's acting prowess. His role in the series has earned him roles in movies such as <i>Praybeyt Benjamin 2, You're Still the One</i> and the upcoming <i>Felix Manalo.</i></div><div><br/></div><div>To this he said, “You can’t really please everyone. <i>Tayo naman, </i>we always try to improve ourselves.'</div><div><br/></div><div>This is not to say though that he's not giving his best to acting.</div><div><br/></div><div>“As long as I do my best and as long as the network is happy with me, the ratings are going well,' he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>According to Richard, he has no issues with the fact that there are those criticizing his performance</div><div><br/></div><div>“If it's constructive criticism <i>naman, it’s no problem. Huwag lang titirahin ka below the belt, just because may gusto lang silang sabihin,'</i> he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Richard also added, “Everyone has a right to his own opinion, siguro better if they keep it to themselves.”</div><div><br/></div><div>After being appreciated in a lighthearted soap, Richard's acting chops would be tested in the drama genre as part of <i>Nasaan Ka Nang Kailangan Kita.</i></div><div><br/></div><div>“It’s something new for me, <i>medyo mas madrama siya. So, sabi ko, sige, subukan natin,'</i> he said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Admittedly though, Richard was a little apprehensive that he would be treading into unfamiliar waters with his new project.</div><div><br/></div><div><i>“May konting apprehension kasi, sabi ko, medyo madrama ito. So, nag-isip din ako, pero we go where we are required to go, to where we are asked,'</i> he ended.</div>
