As one of the country's most talented and seasoned performers, Lorna Tolentino admitted she makes an effort to keep herself healthy and looking good. “I do pilates now. Kasi I need more of strengthening of my core because I had a back problem before pero slowly it's improving so kailangan din talaga meron kang aside from the supplements that you have you really have to work out for your physical health. I do it twice now but it should really be three times in a week. Pero now once or twice lang kapag talagang full yung schedule ko. I think health should be your priority kasi papaano yung mga susunod mo pang gustong gawin if you’re not healthy? Health is wealth sabi nga nila. Yun na yung pinaka-bonus mo sa buhay kung healthy yung sarili mo mas makakaipon ka (laughs),” she shared during her Watson's Generics store visit campaign with Edu Manzano at SM Mall of Asia held last August 25 in Pasay city.
The 53-year-old actress shared some health and wellness tips that she abides by. “Just think of positive thoughts kasi yun lang talaga ang way to keep positive all the time para mawala yung stress. Pag stressful na yan pray immediately para matanggal ang negativity na yan and then move forward. Sa food naman ang hirap kasing mag-diet sa food eh (laughs). In order to love yourself, you should be like first of all healthy, that's loving yourself. And in order to be healthy, you really need to take care of yourself, what you eat, what you drink, and what you do. Pero kasi mas madaling makatulong yung supplements talaga and watch out na lang what you really eat. Kung puro naman alam mong masama for you like crab at puro aligue eh di good luck di ba? Dapat talaga alam mo rin yung tama na dapat mong kainin kasi lalo na according to your age. Kung bata ka pa madaling matanggal yun kasi mabilis pa yung metabolism nun. But as we grow old kailangan nag-a-adapt na tayo sa kung ano yung tama nating kainin. What I endorse I use so lahat ng Watson's Generics I really use like Vitamin E, ascorbic acid and the luyang dilaw for herbal. They have alternatives for wellness,” she admitted.
The actress said since she became a lola three years ago, her perspective in life has changed. “I love my granddaughter now. She's my inspiration to really be strong and well para naman makasama ko sya ng mahaba. Natatawa nga ako eh kasi yung lola naging 'Lolz.” (laughs). She's into swimming so mapapa-swimming ka na rin. She thinks she's a mermaid so kailangan ko mag-catch up dun. That's why I need all the vitamins and supplements. Nag-pe-paint siya, she has her own make-up set na kunyari she'll contour my nose or use the eyebrow set. Meron siyang coloring na siya ang gumagawa. Pretend only ang sasabihin niya. Meron siyang palettes kunwari,” she shared.
Getting to spend more time with her three-year-old apo Tori has also kept Lorna more updated with the latest trends. “Parang kailangan mo mag-catch up kasi nung time na ako yung mom, yung pakikipaghabol ko sa mga bata is only regarding lang the technology. Kasi na-u-upgrade ng nag-u-upgrade yung techology natin. Boys kasi yung sa akin so more interested sila on the technology side na high tech na mga gadgets. Tapos pagdating naman sa apo ko parang sa lahat ng klase kailangan from story books, music, mga ganan, mas parang nakatutok ngayon kasi I'm so lucky that her mom is a principal now. She used to be a teacher [but] now she's a principal na sa school so lalo akong nag-ka-catch up. Minsan nagugulat ako mas magaling pa sa charades yung apo ko kesa sa akin (laughs),” she said.
Lorna said even though Tori is aware of her grandmother's profession, she has her own dreams. “Yes alam naman niya I'm an actress. Pag tinatanong ko siya, 'Do you want to be an actress? Sasabihin niya, 'I want to be a ballet dancer and a singer.' A total performer ang dating (laughs). Parang 120 films yung kailangan ko ipapanuod sa kanya to catch up,” she said.
Lorna said she is enjoying time with her loved ones. “Now kasi since I'm not really working full time, I don't have a teleserye, it's only guestings and the once a week tapings so mas may time ako to travel with them, go out-of-town or out of the country, yung mga ganyan ang bondings namin kasi I think mas okay yung memory na naiiwan pag nag-ba-bond kayo together sa travel eh. And also parang sa edad ko ngayon parang mas gusto ko rin na makita yung mas marami pang lugar na hindi ko napupuntahan. Dito pa lang sa Philippines ang dami ng lugar na hindi ko napupuntahan,” she added.
With the love team of Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta revived a few years ago, Lorna shared how she would feel if she was ever reunited in a project again with her former leading men. “Ayaw ni Edu Manzano (laughs). Si Christopher de Leon, Edu Manzano or Gabby Concepcion yan yung mga kasama ko. Okay lang but it's going to be different na kasi they're younger than us. It's another kind of a love affair na,” she explained.
When it comes to loving again, even though she has said in previous interviews that she is happy being single, Lorna admits she believes in keeping an open mind. “Mahirap magsalita ng tapos or period on anything regarding my love life. Parang sa ngayon I'm happy as it is and wala akong iniisip na parang another kind of love sa ngayon except yung family ko and my granddaughter, dun ako. If dumating siya, fine okay lang. Huwag nating pilitin,” she said.
