Coleen Garcia on playing mature and daring roles: ‘It's a coming of age’

But more than anything else, the Kapamilya actress remarked that she is ecstatic about this new chapter in her life. “You know it’s a mix of being nervous and at same time excited more than anything else, I’m excited I can't wait until September 2 (the film’s showing) but at the same time I’m scared. I guess it's a whole mix of emotions,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Coleen shared that she has accumulated innumerable acting tips while working with Derek Ramsay in the movie. “You know I’m glad my first mainstream movie <i>na ako ‘yung</i> lead is with him because I learned so much from him and <i>naaalalayan ako ng bongga talaga</i>.” She added that Derek is very professional as a leading man. “I never had any problems working with him, not even a single problem. He helped me also grow in a way.” </div><div><br/></div><div>She further shared that her character in the film is kind of complex and complicated which make it very challenging to portray. She said that it is the most daring character she has ever portrayed. “Well [it’s] going out of the box definitely. It is the most daring thing I’ve ever done but it's also one of the most emotional and one of the most complex. I feel because my character Arkisha, she has so many stages in her life, so many stage <i>na nagco</i>-college <i>pa lang siya</i>, very naïve, very joyful and then something happens to her and she becomes cold and empty in a way and after a while she goes back together again with Derek’s character [Adam] so it’s really a roller coaster of emotions. not just emotions but also the state of being because the entire state of being changes. I guess that’s the most challenging part.”</div><div><br/></div><div>Now that she’s doing more sexy and mature roles, Coleen remarked that it’s all part of her effort to grow as an actress. “Well I think <i>kasi </i>what some people forget is that I’m 23 because I look like 12 so ‘<i>di ba</i>? I guess it's a coming of age also. It’s the age that I'm in that I actually need to try to step up and try more challenging roles, different kind of roles. But I don't want to limit myself to one kind of role. I want to try something different, <i>siguro </i>after this film if there's another opportunity it's maybe something different <i>naman</i> from what I’m doing in this film.”</div><div><br/></div>
