David Foster defends why Charice has stopped singing ‘birit’ songs
081815-davidcharice_main.jpgOn Aquino and Abunda Tonight, Charice Pempengco and David Foster talked about how he chose Charice to perform Sam Smith’s hit single “Lay Me Down” for Asia’s Got Talent Grand Finals Night.

David explained, “whenever I’m trying to construct a song, I see the end before I start. If you cant see the end, then don't start.” He says that with “Lay Me Down,” “I see her (Charice) singing at the end of the song.”

Charice was also asked if she will be performing “birit” songs for their concert The Hitman Returns: David Foster and Friends Asia Tour 2015. Host Boy Abunda said a lot of people are missing Charice’s “pagbirit.” Charice said, “meron naman sa set list.” She also said that she will do her best to satisfy her audience. “As a performer, I don't like it when people don't feel satisfied.”

David quickly defended Charice. “People like Charice, Celine (Dion), and Josh (Groban) and (Michael) Buble … they get their own mind, and so they should, the good ones do. She has her own mind now, she’s writing songs now. She just doesn't want to sing a Celine Dion song now, that was then, this is now, and I applaud that, I appreciate that.”

Charice said, “it feels good that he (David) is supporting me.” Charice added, “ginagampan (niya) ang role bilang ninong ko talaga.”  David has also taught Charice “na hindi dapat ako magsettle sa good lang, dapat lahat ng gagawin ko the best.”

On Fast Talk, Charice said the best decision she’s made is “coming out.” Love for Charice is “everything.” If we open her heart, we will see “Alyssa.” For Charice, David Foster is “scary.” And if she isn’t a singer, she would be a “barbero.”
