Currently being planned under the working title I’ll Never Get Over You, Alex Gonzaga and Edgar Allan Guzman are set to headline their first Star Cinema film together. During the movie’s story conference held last July 31 at the Star Cinema office inside ABS-CBN, director Enrico Santos shared some of the details of the project which will have him, Alex and EA all working together for the first time.
“All we can say right now is that it is a love story with a twist and it involves, breaking up, moving on and getting back together again. Wala pa kaming title and all that pero this will launch Alex and EA into cinema with their own brand of comedy so siguro ang genre nito is comedy romance not rom-com kasi mas highlighted yung the funny side of loving, breaking up and making up again,” he said.
The Star Cinema director admitted that there will pressure in launching a new onscreen partnership but he believes Alex and EA will be a good pair. “Yes (may pressure) but we’ll have fun. This will be comedy that will not just be coming from one source like the script and the director but mainly through the persona of Alex and EA, the kind of comedy nila na may konting improve. So this is partially an improv film, partially unscripted so may konting realistic collisions dito ng mga characters. Malaking pressure din yun kay Alex at kay EA kasi dala mo yung character mo habang ginagawa mo yung pelikula, uma-adlib ka. Hindi ka puwedeng mawala dahil minsan may script minsan wala. Tapos minsan natural yung lumabas galing hugot sa totoong buhay niya, pero hindi naman nila pini-perform ang totoong buhay nila dito. They’re both lovable and have great chemistry as a romantic team but even more lovable and great chemistry as a comedy team. Kaya yan ang i-di-discover namin sa movie na ito at iaaalay namin sa moviegoer,” he explained.
Enrico said they are still planning the shooting dates since EA will be heading to Canada to do some shows. “Naghahanap pa ng locations pero within Metro Manila lang. Kasi intimate love story siya so sa city, suburbs at parks lang,” he added.
Alex and EA both admit it will not be hard to work with each other since they were already co-actors in another station. “Si EA kasi friend ko na siya dati pa, as in dun sa pinanggalingan namin na network, kami kami na yung magkakasama dun so alam ko si EA magaling siya talaga na artista. Kasi dito medyo delicate yung role ni EA but I’m sure magagawa niya yun talaga,” Alex admitted.
The Kapamilya actress said she found the concept of I’ll Never Get Over You to be very unique. “Dun pa lang sa title alam na namin na it’s about hugot and about nangyayari sa breakups and relationships and nangyayari after the breakup. Nung unang in-offer siya sa akin ang sabi it’s not a breakup movie but new age of moving on, yung new generation kung paano ngayon nag-mo-move on ang tao and kung ano yung nangyayari minsan sa sitwasyon, kung ano yung mga hindi mo inakala na after breakup mo dun mo pala malalaman yun,” she explained.
EA agreed with his new leading lady and hoped that audiences will appreciate and support their new partnership. “Matagal ko ng nakatrabaho si Alex and matagal ko na siyang kilala kaya sobrang happy and excited ako. May twist dito sa character ko, kumbaga ako si Quito dito, partner boyfriend ni Mack which is si Alex so abangan nila yung twist ng character ko. Super hugot din talaga,” he said.
