Eula Valdes explains why Jodi Sta. Maria need not attempt to imitate her portrayal of Amor Powers

<div><img src='' alt='062515-eula_main.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>While original Amor Powers Eula Valdes admitted that she has yet to watch the new version of iconic soap <i>Pangako Sa ’Yo</i>, she stressed that there’s no need for pressure to be placed on the new actors on the soap.</div><div><br/></div><div>As early as the announcement of the names of the actors who would reprise the iconic roles of the soap were released, the public has been active in making comments and comparisons between the new and old actors.</div><div><br/></div><div>Among the most compared roles were that of Amor Powers and Claudia Buenavista which were previously played by Eula and Jean Garcia, respectively. In the new version of the soap, Amor is played by Jodi Sta. Maria while Claudia is played by Angelica Panganiban.</div><div><br/></div><div>Eula, during the recently-concluded 36th Gawad Urian where she was named as the Best Actress, claimed that she’s aware that the current cast are somewhat having a hard time matching her performance.</div><div><br/></div><div>“Siyempre masaya ako kasi may mga nakakapagsabi nga sakin na dahil may nauna meron silang basehan, parang kailangan either tapatan mo ‘yan or higitan mo. So may nagsabi sakin na medyo nahihirapan daw sila,” she said.</div><div><br/></div><div>Eula added, “Siyempre proud ako kasi ibig sabihin lang nu’n I did a good job doing <i>Pangako Sa ’Yo</i> na gusto nilang mahigitan ‘yun. Nakaka-proud rin.”</div><div><br/></div><div>But what does she have to say to those who consider her past performance to be insurmountable?</div><div><br/></div><div>“Hindi lang siguro sa Pangako, kahit ano sigurong naging successful na proyekto mahirap tapatan ang original lalo pa at nagustuhan ng tao eh mahirap talaga,” she said.</div><div></div><div><img src='' alt='062515-eula_main.jpg' width='400' height='290' align='left' border='0'>Echoing her previous advice to Jodi, Eula added, “Pero sabi ko nga gawin lang niya kung ano ang tingin niyang nararapat kasi hindi naman exactly the same ang story eh. Iba ‘yung sitwasyon eh so hindi kailangan [gayahin ng parehong-pareho ang acting]. Iba ang sitwasyon ng Pangako ngayon eh. I heard na hindi siya [Amor] katulong ganyan.”</div><div><br/></div><div>The new version of the soap had Amor’s background changed into a cook instead of being a helper.</div><div><br/></div><div>Another issue broached by the fans in the past was that Eula should’ve been tapped to reprise the same role.</div><div><br/></div><div>To this, she said, “Okay lang kasi sila rin naman ang gumawa nung original eh. Parang prerogative nila ‘yun and wala kaming say doon kung gusto nilang i-remake,” she said.</div>

Eula Valdes believes actor comparisons are normal for all successful projects.
