The designer was not allowed to enter the club despite her explaining that she’s a transwoman and even showed her California State I.D. which indicates she is female. This incident did not just happen once but twice already. On her second visit to the club, the bouncer made an irrevocable decision to not let her in and said “Lalaki parin ‘yan.”
In a letter sent to entertainment site Pep.ph, Valkyrie management said, “Club management would like to apologize to these individuals if the denial of entry resulted in their embarrassment or made them feel disrespected in any way.”
They explained that “In denying entry to these individuals, the Club’s personnel were merely adhering to its safety policies and guidelines.”
The management clarified the issue against the LGBT community and said that the club “does not refuse entry on the basis of an individual’s sexual orientation” and in fact “The Club has, on many previous occasions, welcomed transgender guests into its premises.”
The fashion designer confirmed that she will be meeting the management of the Valkyrie nightclub on June 29.
