Kris Aquino confirmed that she’s pushing through with The Etiquette for Mistresses movie despite her previous announcement that she will no longer be joining it.
The movie, which will be directed by Chito Rono, is based on the book Etiquette for Mistresses and What Wives Can Learn From Them written by columnist Julie Yap Daza.
In an interview with the Queen of All Media during her recent launch as the global ambassador of local courier brand LBC, she stressed that an active contract almost stopped her from doing the film.
“Meron kasi akong kontrata sa isang produkto na going 10 years ko na silang endorsement at meron kasi silang stipulation doon about having the right to approve or disapprove roles that could prove detrimental to the good wholesome family image of their product,” she explained.
Kris continued, “And magpapakatotoo ako. ‘Yung kinikita ko galing sakanila ‘di hamak na times 10 sa kikitain ko sa kahit anong movie. So siyempre pagbibigyan mo sila ng halaga.”
To resolve the issue, Kris revealed that she had the brand’s representative review the movie’s storyline.
“Pero nung pinabasa ko sa kanila ‘yung storyline and ‘yung characterization ko na-realize nila na kahit ganyan ‘yung theme at ‘yung title, may redemption. At ‘yun ang napakaimportante sa kanila. So it’s about liberation, redemption and finally doing what is right,” she explained.
The Aquino and Abunda Tonight host likewise shared that the film would take off from a woman’s perspective.
How about her leading man?
“Two scenes lang daw kami at nililigawan ko pa siya,” Kris said without revealing who this person was.
A little recently through a post on her Instagram account, Kris confirmed that she would be starring on the film together with her “panganay” Kim Chiu and returning actress Claudine Barretto.
