Kris Aquino is not one to falsely claim that she would be strictly professional in her much-talked about upcoming movie with Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
In an interview during her announcement as the first global ambassador of local courier company LBC on Wednesday, Kris bluntly admitted that she has her own set of reasons why she even accepted the project in the first place.
“No, of course not! ‘Wag tayong maglokohan na strictly professional ito. Siyempre may personalan ito. Hindi naman namin ito gagawin kung hindi personal di ba. Hindi ko naman kayo bobolahin lahat. May personal na reason at inamin ko ‘yun na gusto kong masagot ‘yung mga what ifs ko,” she said.
Since the announcement of their project a couple of days ago, several quarters have expressed disappointment over the idea. To this, Kris revealed what she advised the QC Mayor.
“Tinanong ko rin naman siya eh. Kasi sinabi ko sa kanya he became sensitive dahil hindi naman siya sanay sa ganong level of bashing. Di ba sa kanya ang bashing hindi na-collect na garbage or sa kanya mataas ang building permit or mataas ang binabayaran na business permit. So, nung nagkausap kami ng masinsinan sinabi niya ‘Ganyan ba talaga?’ And sabi ko, ‘You know your number one defense is a good sense of humor and the best thing that we can do is to give them a product that we can be proud of,’” she said.
She likewise urged him to just let go by saying, “And sabi ko naman sa kanya, the very fact na ang director of the moment na si Direk Antoinette Jadaone eh na-excite gawin ito, magtiwala nalang tayong dalawa.”
The two had a botched romance last year which probably was the reason why many were shocked over the announcement of their upcoming movie. In a recent Instagram post, Kris herself, considers the acceptance of the project as a huge leap of faith on her part.
Asked what made her say yes to the project, Kris without batting an eyelash pointed her finger to Star Cinema.
“Tita Malou Santos said ‘I’m going to own it.’ I was very honest with management na sinabi ko na may track record ako pinaghahawakan. Meron kaming certain expectations na sa box office the last several years na. Parang ang sinabi ko ‘I don’t want to be blamed.’ Tapos sinabi ni Tita Malou na ang Star Cinema at ang track record daw ng Star Cinema ang ituro ko dahil choice nila ito,” she said.
According to Kris, she will be joined by her son Bimby Yap in her movie with Herbert with the working title Saving Forever For You.
Now that they are working together, questions as to whether they would be rekindling their romance suddenly came to light. Kris for her part, maintained that it’s not a question that she can answer.
“Di ba hindi sa akin manggagaling ‘yan kasi hindi naman ako ‘yung umatras? Bakit tama naman di ba?” she asked with a laugh.
Meanwhile, Kris likewise confirmed that she and Herbert have agreed to having certain rules once they start shooting for the movie in July which includes not having visitors on the set.
“Kasi wala akong bakas dito eh. Talent fee lang. So siyempre meron rin silang fear na iba kung pero money mo ang on the line eh. Kung pera mo ang on the line, gagawin mo ang lahat para matapos ang pelikula. Kung naka-sweldo ka at wala kang on the line na ‘to, pwede kang magpaka-brat. Na hindi ko naman gagawin di ba pero siyempre di ba puwedeng magkaroon ng nananadya,” she said.
“Ayoko namang may makita ako doon na hindi ko type makita and I’m sure siya rin naman wala rin naman siyang gustong makita doon na hindi rin niya gustong makita so binigyan ng rules. May mga rules na kami,” Kris added.
Although the project seems to be taking off already, Kris clarified that the management is still ironing certain things out.
“Pero ka-klaruhin ko lang ha? Marami pang binubuo, marami pang kailangang asikasuhin at ayusin because may mga political implications din that suddenly came to light at nire-review ngayon ng lawyers ‘yung mga rules ng Comelec,” the Kris TV host shared.
With talks about the KrisTek movie stirring up, Kris however opted to be mum as to when its playdate would be. But she was more than willing to share the limitation that she has established while working on the movie and that is “‘Wag magpakatanga a second time around.”
