John Lloyd Cruz admitted that he could see himself venturing into producing movies in the future. “Na- express ko lang na more than directing mas interesado ako mag-produce. Interested, well unang-una mas lumalawak ’yung horizon para sa ’yo kasi hindi ka limited don sa contribution mo as an actor.”
He added, “And with producing it is definitely more challenging pero parang iba yata rin ‘yung satisfaction mo, ‘yung being able to produce a movie or a film,” he said in an interview at the Biogesic event.
For now, John Lloyd Cruz’s career still revolves around acting and in fact he will be headlining a movie titled "Honor Thy Father." According to the actor, the film is already done and they will be conducting a private screening for it. “Matagal na siyang tapos, ‘di lang namin alam kung kailan ‘yung magiging play date pero tapos na siya. Actually we will have a private screening tomorrow, this week pero para sa mga creators and colleagues.”
It was reported that Dingdong Dantes was supposed to play the lead in the film but he was replaced by John Lloyd Cruz. Allegedly, Dingdong was not aware that the role was also being offered to John Lloyd. In an article published by Pep.ph, Dingdong spoke up about the matter saying, “Kung anuman ‘yun, it will not hinder me from wanting to make, do, produce the film that I want to do and the project that I love to do. Siguro, it’s a… paano ba yun, paano ko ba masasabi yun…Siguro, ganito na lang, it’s very unfortunate that it happened. But I’m fortunate that I found out right now the people whom I should really be dealing with.”
John Lloyd admitted that he also did not have the idea that the role was initially offered to Dingdong. “Ako hindi ko alam na in-offer din sa kanya. I guess I am in no position to tell you kung ano ‘yung naging [pag-uusap] kasi just like him in-offer lang din naman sa akin,” he briefly stated.
