During the Asia's Got Talent press conference today, May 20, finalists El Gamma Penumbra, Junior New System, Gwyneth Dorado and Gerphil Flores formally faced the press for the first time since they got back from Singapore.
Gerphil has particularly gotten attention from the press as she missed the homecoming number of the finalists on ASAP 20and has yet to make the rounds on ABS-CBN shows. Rumors have spread that she has 'tampo' towards the network after not winning in the first season of Pilipinas Got Talent.
The classical singer told the press she is thankful to be given the chance to clarify the issue. Gerphil then explained that her stay in Singapore got extended so she wasn't able to guest onASAP. She returned to the country the evening of May 17.
"Unang una po yung sa ASAP guesting, marami pong naghanap po sakin dun, bakit wala si Gerphil, yung tatlo lang? Kasi po nauna po silang umuwi sa 'kin, naiwan po ako sa Singapore. Tapos nakauwi po ako Monday lang po ng gabi. Naextend po yun stay ko dun at dahil po dun, hindi po ako nakasama sa ASAP. After po nun, nung nakauwi na po ako dito, madami na pong mga networks na nagtatanong po, pero yung ABS, wala pa naman po akong narereceive."
When asked if she will guest on any ABS-CBN show, Gerphil said she is willing to perform in any network.
As for those who are curious over David Foster's mystery message to Gerphil on stage, the soprano denied that the Grammy-winning song writer he offered her a management contract. Gerphil also clarified that he only told her words of encouragement.
Regarding her future plans, Gerphil revealed she will be finishing her last semester at the University of The Philippines, where she is taking up Bachelor of Music in Voice.
Gerphil also said she dreams of performing with her idols Lea Salonga and Regine Velasquez
