Morissette Amon said that she has grown immensely as a singer after becoming a finalist in the first season of The Voice of the Philippines. The young singer who just released her self-titled album remarked that she is exploring different genres of music ever since joining the competition. “First of all ‘yung technique bilang isang singer kasi ‘yung sa The Voice kung ano lang ‘yung mga ginagawa ko ‘yung mga ballads, ito with this album so it’s more on discovering the other things that I could do like R&B, like mga soft [songs],” she shared.
She also relayed that the competition has helped her establish a name for herself in the music scene. “Sa lifestyle ko naman na nag-change ever since nag The Voice marami pong nakakakilala po sa akin, malaki rin kasi po ‘yung exposure na nakuha ko sa The Voice and super happy lang po kami na marami kaming nakuhang support sa show.”
A lot of music fans are comparing Morissette to the Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo who happened to be her coach on The Voice. The singer admitted that it was actually an advantage for her initially. “At first po it was an advantage for me kasi nakilala nila ako like ‘Ay ikaw yung kamukha ni Sarah’ so at that ay nakilala ako pero hindi ako nakilala as Morissette.”
She said she wants to create her own identity as a singer and she remarked that her album would help her establish her own brand in the industry. “So ito ‘yung goal namin sa album ngayon na mas makilala nila ako as Morissette at hindi lang as a second someone. Nakakatawa lang din po kasi parang ‘yung iba maraming magkamukha pero iba ‘yung ginagawa nila sa industry like may singer pero ‘yung isa naman ay actress. Kami po same po kaming nagsi-sing and dance, marami po talagang similiarities ni coach, hindi namin maiwasan ‘yun kasi ako mismo musical influence ko siya. All it takes is more effort kung sino talaga si Morissette and I think with this album malalaman nila ‘yun,” she said.
