EXCLUSIVE: JM De Guzman admits he never stopped loving Jessy Mendiola

JM De Guzman admits he never thought he and Jessy Mendiola would get a second chance at love.

Less than a month since he admitted he and Jessy Mendiola were a couple again during a recent guest appearance on Gandang Gabi Vice, JM De Guzman's blessings have continued to pour in. After the success of That Thing Called Tadhana, JM is now preparing for another big screen project with Anne Curtis under Viva films as well as currently taping for the upcoming Kapamilya series All of Me. “Hindi naman mawawala yung pressure, parati siyang andun. Pero pag nandun na sa work, isa na rin yun sa challenge ng trabaho na ma-divert yung pressure into something na makakatulong dun sa trabaho,” he told Push.com.ph.

The 26-year-old actor still found time to date his ladylove during the recent Katy Perry concert last May 7. “Actually crush ko rin si Katy Perry pero yung buong concert maganda. I enjoyed naman. Yinayaya kami as guests of a friend. Biglaan yun as in the night before lang inalok sa akin. Mga 2 am na kami nakauwi,” he recalled.

Things have been going well for JM and Jessy, but the talented actor admitted he never expected they would get a second chance at love. “No, hindi ko talaga nakitang mangyayari ito. Masaya lahat parang ewan ko, siguro pinaniniwala ko rin yung expect nothing pero parang you live for surprises, parang ganun? I was hoping pero yung chance, feeling ko wala eh. Parang konti lang. Or siguro in denial ako, parang gusto ko rin maayos. Parang nung time na yun ah. But at the same time at the back of my mind siyempre gusto ko pa rin magkatuluyan kami pero parang willing ako to be friends lang din,” he added.

During their time apart, JM said he did try to see if he could find love in someone else. “Yes nagkaroon ng time na paglabas ko parang gumawa rin naman ako ng effort na i-try na maghanap ng iba, ganyan. Nag-date date ako pero hindi eh. Parang hindi ko mapilit. Parang andun pa talaga yung gusto ko,” he admitted.

Although many people around him are concerned about his heart being broken again, JM defended his girlfriend from any possible blame. “Una hindi naman din puwede isisi sa iba yung kung ano man yung mangyari sa ‘yo. Laging nasa sa ‘yo yung huling desisyon, ikaw yung may sariling utak at saka I'm sure hindi rin naman ganung klaseng tao si Jessy na intentional yung pananakit. Siguro bata pa kami nun kaya ganun yung nangyari. She did what she had to do. Tama lang yung ginawa niya and kung hindi rin nangyari yun, hindi rin mas magiging okay kami ngayon,” he explained.

As a person who would be the first to admit his imperfections, JM said he is the type to always give people a second chance. “Hindi naman ako marunong mag-quit sa tao or sa kahit kaninong tao. Kasi ako klaro din sa akin yung mistakes ko and kung ano pa yung mga puwedeng mistakes na magawa ko so ganun din yung mga tao sa paligid ko, puwedeng magkamali pero hindi mo dapat huhusgahan agad,” he said.

The All of Me actor said he has noticed a lot of positive changes with Jessy now that they have been spending more and more time together outside work. “In terms of maturity tapos mas matibay siya ngayon emotionally. As a woman and as a person mas nakakahanga siya, nakakabilib,” he admitted.

If there was anything he would change to make their relationship better or stronger than before, JM said it is just to create more happy memories together. “Siguro kung may babaguhin man kami sa isa't isa siguro hindi na siguro kasi dati parang problema lang yun eh. Yung change naman nanggagaling sa sarili so siguro mas mag-fo-focus kami kung paano ma-enjoy yung time namin together, like to do more new things together.”
