Despite being consistently good in her recent performances on Your Face Sounds Familiar, comedienne Melai Cantiveros doesn't consider herself to be in a better position compared to the other performers.
Kaya hindi ko maseryoso," she said in a recent interview with Push.com.ph on the set of Your Face Sounds Familiar.
Last weekend, Melai's performance as Queen of Rock & Roll Elizabeth Ramsey gave her her first win. A few weeks ago, Melai's performance as Rihanna earned her a lot of nods on social media even if she failed to make it to the top spot. It was Maxene Magalona's impersonation of her late father Francis M that got the most votes during that week.
Melai has impersonated a slew of local and international icons like Nora Aunor, Jay Contreras of Kamikazee, Britney Spears, Salbakuta, Blakdyak, and Jolina Magdangal. Interestingly, Melai says it's tougher to transform into a local star than to become an international icon.
She reasoned, "Kapag international ka walang takot eh kasi alam mong walang pakialam.
In a recent interview with Your Face jury member Jed Madela, he stressed that Melai often gives them tummy aches because they keep laughing over her crazy antics.
Does she have any fears that people might not take her seriously when she needs them to?
From the moment she first stepped inside the Pinoy Big Brother house to the moment she was chosen as the Big Winner back in 2010, Melai has always been the funny gal. According to Melai, her current image is something that she wants to be intact for as long as she is in the business.
