Inigo Pascual: ‘I'm super awkward’
050915-inigo_main.jpgWith his movie Para Sa Hopeless Romantic coming out in theaters starting May 13, Inigo Pascual and onscreen love team partner Julia Barretto have been busy promoting the movie all over the country these past few weeks. Inigo shared that Julia has been a big help to him not just when it comes to acting. “Mostly si Julia talaga yung nagtuturo sa akin. More than me teaching her anything siya yung nagtuturo sa akin how to feel and how to be confident pag sa promos and all that. Because I'm usually shy when I talk but now I'm more confident when I speak. Parang hindi ako takot magsalita,” he shared.

With their “JulNigo” following, Inigo said there is a key thing in becoming an effective love team in showbiz. “Trust is the most important thing in a love team kasi you guys are going to be together for a long time and kailangan yung trust talaga nandun. Even during a scene yung alam mong what if someone can't do it, you know someone is there to help you out, yung pati sa mga problema, sa personal stuff kasi kayo ang magkakasama everyday. Yung kailangan mo ng someone you can trust and talk to everyday with everything,” he admitted.

Expected by many to follow in the footsteps of his dad Piolo in becoming a heartthrob, Inigo said he still has a lot to learn when it comes to making girls swoon or become “kilig” on-cam. “I need to learn that. I don't know how he does it (laughs). Pinapanuod ko siya actually pag nasa set ako pag bumibisita ako. Si papa yung meron siyang yung parang yumuyuko tapos slowly tinitingnan niya yung partner niya at saka yung pang-deliver ng line pabulong, yung mas sincere,” he said.

The 19-year-old actor also said everything has to look natural or the “kilig” won’t work. “Kasi siyempre you have to get the right timing and hindi awkward. Eh I'm somewhat of an awkward person. Talagang kailangan you have to be in the moment and really feel it. Hindi puwedeng fake yung kilig,” he added.

In real life, Inigo said he is not as outgoing as the characters he gets to play on the big screen. “Like I don't know how to accept compliments to be honest. Yung parang I don't know what to say when someone says a compliment to me I cannot say thank you. I cannot accept it. I don't know what to say. I'm super awkward,” he shared.

In this regard, the Para Sa Hopeless Romantic teen actor said he gets some tips from his dad on how to be a romantic guy. “It's the simple things like opening a door for a girl, not a lot of guys do that nowadays. Parang nawawala na yun and I think it should still be there. Texting a girl first, parang you have to be the one who makes an effort for them that you want something. Be a gentleman basically,” he shared.

Another goal aside from building up his acting career that Inigo has is to go back to school eventually. The teen actor said this is not influenced by his dad or anyone else but it’s his own choice. “I will finish my studies. Even if he says that I have to, it's my choice. It's something that I want to do for myself. I want to keep learning and I want to expand whatever I can do,” he said.
