EXCLUSIVE: John ‘Sweet’ Lapus reacts to ‘The Buzz’ ending
041115-sweet_main.jpgFormer The Buzz co-host John “Sweet” Lapus expressed his sadness over the cancellation of the Sunday talk show last Sunday, April 5. Sweet was still in the United States when he learned about the sad news that the show had already bid goodbye.

“Honestly, I felt sad. I was in Las Vegas when I got the news. Someone tweeted me na tito Boy mentioned my name na pinasalamatan lahat ng mga naging co-host ng The Buzz for the past 15 or 16 years, so ‘yun, i didn’t expect that at all.”

Though he is used to the constant changes in the business, he is still deeply saddened that the show ended considering that he was one of its pioneers. “I realized na some good things never last  ako di na ako nagugulat sa mga ganyan. Sanay na sanay na ako after 22 years in the business from being a production staff and eventually an on-cam host and an actor alam ko na yung mga ganyan. But of course ang sa akin kasi The Buzz has a soft spot in my heart for the reason na isa ako sa mga pioneer na staff niyan.”

Sweet was as an associate producer of the show before becoming an on-cam host. He attributed his success as a host to the show which opened the doors for him while he was still starting out. “Well mas naging creative ako diyan sa The Buzz, na-hone ‘yung aking creativity as a [member of the] production staff and when I became a co-host eventually na-hone din ‘yung aking hosting skills kasi biro mo ‘yung time na ‘yun ang host na si tito Boy and si Kris tapos kaming dalawa ni Ricky Lo ang mga co-host tapos lagi kaming pinagsasama.”

Sweet hasn’t been able to personally talk to Tito Boy yet, but he believes the King of talk will feel better in time. “Hindi pa kasi kakarating ko lang but you know inaamin naman niya na he is kind of sad but I’m pretty sure tito Boy is okay kasi si Kris (Aquino) okay na okay noh, kaka-text ko lang kanina. Siyempre si tito Boy siya ‘yung 16 years ng The Buzz eh, technically siya  ‘yung The Buzz. Pero ako niniwala ako na the only thing that is constant in this world is change so wala akong choice, magbabago at magbabago yan and even me as an artist, it’s a constant effort for me to reinvent kasi alam ko nagbabago ang gusto ng tao,” he said.
