Binibining Pilipinas-Universe MJ Lastimosa is gearing up for her first acting gig in the April 11 episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya. MJ admitted that she has been a fan of the drama anthology since her younger years and she is honored that her life story will be featured. The beauty queen hopes that her story will inspire a lot of people especially young girls to dare to dream and fulfill their aspirations in life.
“Never did I imagine na ‘yung buhay ko pang MMK din pala. Pero you know I’ve been facing challenges na talagang ang hirap pero kinakaya ko. Kaya in the long run ‘yung lumalaban ako ng lumalaban sa buhay, may mga friends akong nagsasabi na very MMK ‘yung buhay ko parang ganon so naiisip ko before na sana mabigyan ako ng chance to share my life na especially sa mga young generation sa province,” MJ said in an interview with Push.com.ph.
MJ admitted that she does not share much of her life to other people even with her closest friends but when she was offered to do the MMK she immediately said yes because she knew that her story will touch other people’s lives. “Nong in-offer sa akin na gusto mo bang ma-feature ‘yung buhay mo sa MMK, ako wala talaga akong pagdadalawag isip. I really did say yes and to think I’m the kind of person who likes to keep my problems [to themselves], hindi ako nagsha-share even to my closest friends na hindi ako ganon ka-open pero sabi ko it’s about time na God wouldn't give me those kind of challenges if di ba if I’m going to keep this lang kaya sabi ko maybe this is bound to happen and to share para more people get inspired na you know with what I’ve gone through, na okay lang, na magiging successful ka in the long run,” she stated.
With matters of the heart, MJ said that she is not pressuring herself to find her special someone. She relayed that she is the type of person who does not plan when it comes to relationship and love. “Sabi ko ‘Let it be’ kung may darating na mai-in love ako why not? Pag wala maybe God has plans for me na siguro magtrabaho muna ako and for my family dahil ang dami ring nawala sa pamilya so maybe I need to spend more time with my family na konting-konti na lang ‘yung oras na meron ako so ibibisita ko na lang sa probinsya so I’m just happy and you know if the right guy comes I won't close my door naman,” she said.
MJ also commented on Toni Gonzaga’s hosting which was scrutinized a few weeks ago during the Bb. Pilipinas pageant. The beauty queen remarked that she enjoyed her time watching Toni lead the pageant. “I love her, sobra kasi sa totoo lang pag nanood ka ng live walang commercial, wala ka namang napapanood like nong sa TV marami kaming dead air. Si Toni kahit na hindi niya working time kasi off-air pa eh so dapat nagpapahinga siya she kept entertaining everyone, she stood up dancing and singing and who would do that?”
She added, “I think tama lang ‘yung ginagawa niya but I think iba't iba naman ‘yung reaction natin, ‘yung sensitivity natin eh so siguro may mga taong we can’t speak in behalf of the other candidates kasi I didn't experience it so baka may mga na-hurt man siguro talagang vulnerable lang talaga sila at that time kasi sobrang pressured at takot ka pero ako as an audience naman nag-enjoy ako sa hosting niya and ang galing niya magdala.”
