Heart Evangelista's parents might have failed to attend their daughter's wedding day but Reynaldo Ongpauco did not forget to greet her on her special day. The actress’ father sent a surprise letter to her which was read by Heart’s cousin, Happy Ongpauco, at the wedding reception. Caught by surprise, the letter moved Heart to tears.

In the letter, as posted by GMA News reporter Nelson Canlas on Instagram, Reynaldo wrote that their only wish for their daughter is to be happy as she welcomes a new chapter in her life with husband Chiz Escudero. 'This is it. You are about to enter a new chapter in your life. Your mom and I taught you the proper values in life. And you are old enough to know what's right or wrong. My only wish is to see you both happy,' he said.

Heart's dad admitted that he really wanted to walk her to the altar but with their circumstances and for undisclosed reasons, they chose not to attend the wedding. 'Alam mo anak, gustong-gusto kitang ihatid sa altar. Sino ba naman ang ama na ayaw makita ang kanyang anak sa pinaka-importanteng araw ng buhay niya. But a lot of things have happened that hinder us from going,” he said.

Reynaldo also asked Chiz to love their daughter wholly and unconditionally. 'Sana Chiz, mahalin mo nang buong buo ang anak namin. Accept everything about her. Take care of her and love her unconditionally. Just like her mom and I loved her unconditionally.”

Heart’s father promised that if they will see their daughter receive the kind of love that she deserves, he will go to Heart and Chiz. “This is my promise – when the day comes that I see both of you truly happy, when I see Chiz loving you the way you deserve to be loved, I will come knocking at your door. I may not be there right now but I am thinking of you Heart,” he concluded.
