In an intense and emotion-filled live show at the Resorts World Hotel and Casino, Teams Sarah and Lea bid farewell to The Voice strong contenders Kokoi Baldo and Nino Alejandro respectively.
Team Sarah’s Jason Dy was surprised when he came out on top of the group’s text votes, receiving 44.67% after performing South Border’s “Kahit Kailan.” Kokoi, who was the consistent crowd favorite, was then pitted against Monique Lualhati for their coach’s vote.
Sarah Geronimo, apparently having a hard time choosing between the two, was joined by Lea Salonga in her chair as the singer started to become emotional.
The Popstar Princess in the end chose the one who she said wanted to continue in the competition. In a totally unexpected move, she picked Monique.
In an episode of the show, Kokoi mentioned his 'sepanx' and how much he longs to be back in his hometown Boracay, which was probably the reason why Sarah decided to grant him his wish.
Another shocker was Lea Salonga letting go of showbiz royalty Nino Alejandro.
Singing One Direction’s “Story of My Life,” Timmy Pavino took Team Lea’s text vote slot with a landslide vote of 50.8%.
Lea, who had the same predicament as Sarah, as they have come down to the best of the best in their group, ended up choosing Leah Patricio, as she knows Nino will continue with his craft as an artist, even outside the show.
Yesterday, Team Apl and Bamboo also chose their semi-final contenders. Daryl Ong and Alisah Bonaobra will represent Team Apl while Rence Rapanot and Rita Martinez will represent Team Bamboo.
