"I'm very, very happy to be one of the nominees for Best Actress because you know every recognition is a blessing from God and another affirmation that I did well last year for TV so I thank Star Awards for that nomination. Manalo, matalo eh malaking bagay na 'yung ma-nominate."

After a brief hiatus, Aiko Melendez made a successful comeback on TV. When asked what pushed her to do acting again, she responded, "It's my first love, I guess. I started since I was six so siyempre I keep coming back to my first love which is acting." Aiko shared that she will be starring in a ABS-CBN soap slated to air soon in the network. "I'm doing a soap under Kapamilya which is The Story of Us with Kim Chiu and Xian Lim so I hope they watch out for it."

According to Aiko, she always wanted to work with the Chinita Princess. "I'm a fan of Kim Chiu so it's a dream come true to work with her. I'm really excited about this project." On the role she will be playing in the soap, she shared, "I'm the step mom of Kim Chiu and 'yun magsta-start 'yung story namin sa isang island."

With the many different roles that she has done, Aiko shared how she reinvents herself in every project being offered to her. "I need to keep on watching mga Hollywood movies, mga indie movies para I'll keep updated kung ano 'yung magagandang pelikula and from there doon ako kumukuha ng mga tips."

After being in the industry for numerous years, what is her advice to all the young artists today to achieve longevity? "Dapat maging humble sila, the higher they become, the bigger star they become, dapat the more humble they become kasi di pwedeng pag mas malaking artista ka mas lalaki pa 'yung ulo mo sa pangalan mo. Keep grounded," she said.

Aiko will be celebrating her birthday this December and will be turning 40 years old. She shared her plans for her natal celebration this year. "Since 'yung birthday ko near sa Christmas mag-40 na ako this simbang gabi so pag-iisahin ko na lang 'yung celebration ng Christmas at birthday ko. Medyo nagbi-birthday blues ako lately pero sabi nga nila age is but numbers. Ang importante di naman ako mukhang 40, mukha naman akong 39," she joked.
