Director Cathy Garcia-Molina said that “Thank You” is not enough to express her gratitude towards those who supported the One More Chance sequel, A Second Chance starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. The Star Cinema movie is said to have garnered P325 million in box office in just six days.
Sharing that she kept praying for this movie for days, Direk Cathy recalled her emotional times while filming. “Kasi ibang hirap ‘yung pinagdaanan namin sa pelikulang ito more than you can imagine. Tears flowed, isang drum. Sabi nila, tuwing umiiyak daw ako sa pelikula, kumikita. Kung ‘yun po ang basehan eh pinakakikita nga ito sa dami ng iniyak pero lahat may magandang kapalit…”
“Kung ano man ‘yung tinatamasang success nung pelikula, binabalik namin lahat sa Kanya. It was all made possible because of God,” the box-office director added.
When asked what part of the movie she got emotional while watching, Direk Cathy answered that at a certain point, she gets detached from her movies considering the times she would watch them in post-production. However, she reiterated that she did get emotional on set. “Hindi ako naiiyak sa sarili kong pelikula but while we’re doing it, naiiyak ako. While we’re doing the scene, I mean them acting it out, yes, naiiyak ako. Motivating, yes. After take, naiiyak ako.”
Talking about how her actors, John Lloyd and Bea have matured acting-wise since the movie’s first installment, Direk Cathy said, “Malayo, in fact, muntik ko na silang hindi makilala.” She also said that she cannot describe with words how much the two have changed.
“Ang laki ng naitulong nung walong taon. Although it’s very hard for them pa rin kasi sabi ko nga, hindi pa naman married ‘yung dalawa. Hindi pa nakapag-live in so ang alam lang nila, relational, boyfriend and girlfriend kaya One More Chance was, I think, closer to their hearts. But because they’ve matured enough, kaya na nila marating ‘yung gustong marating nung characters,” Direk Cathy praised the two, adding that they also brainstorm about their roles.
