122315-michael_main.jpgAs if to mark his good finish on Your Face Sounds Familiar season 2, Michael Pangilinan successfully staged a concert titled Michael Sounds Familiar at The Music Museum last Friday, December 18.

Apart from the concert, fans who rooted for the Harana Prince can expect to see more of him come 2016 as he announced that he will be part of the movie version of his Himig Handog P-Pop Love Song piece “Pare Mahal Mo Raw Ako.”

Along with that, Michael also shared that he’s also set to release his second album under Star Music soon. But he also added that he has a “pasabog” come January which he refused to reveal to the press during the interview.

During the recently-concluded finale of the show, Denise Laurel was named as the second season’s champion while Michael finished as the first runner-up.

The result got a number of netizens buzzing, especially those who rooted for Michael after his stellar performance as Sam Smith and John Legend that got him into the top 5 contenders.

What does he have to say to those who think that he deserves to bag that title?

“All I can say is thank you to Your Face Sounds Familiar. Sa lahat ng sumuporta, nagtiwala, nanood, naniwala, nagbigay ng ratings sa amin, sa lahat ng sumubaybay, maraming maraming salamat,” he started.

According to Michael, he never really expected to make it to the top 5 that “‘Yun palang blessing na ‘yun.

He continued, “Makaabot ako sa top 2, it was another parang hindi na blessing, parang winning na. Nanalo na ako eh. Wala na akong kailangang patunayan para ipanalo ko ‘yung Your Face dahil sa 14 weeks na ginawa ko. Feeling ko meron na akong napatunayan on my own na hindi ko sinasadya na ‘Uy eto ako!’”

A common perception in the Philippines is that runner-ups tend to shine brighter than actual contest winners. Instead of banking on this belief, Michael stressed, “Let’s leave that to God. Ayoko rin mag-comment na, ‘Sisikat ako kasi hindi ako nanalo.’

If anything, Michael is happy that Denise, one of his close friends on the show, bagged the champion title.

Sobra. Off-cam sobra. Denise, Kean [Cipriano] kami ‘yung apat na laging magkakasama,” he said.

Now that their season has ended, the next season might air soon. When asked who he would recommend to be part of the eight participants, he said “Marcelito Pomoy pero suggest ko lang ‘wag na kayong kumuha ng may tattoo. Napakahirap. Buburahin tapos lalagyan ulit and again and again.”
