Is Jodi Sta. Maria the new lucky charm of ‘daddy heartthrobs?’

122215-jodian_main.jpgSince portraying Maya dela Rosa on the hit noontime serye Be Careful With My Heart, Jodi Sta. Maria has been paired to what many call as “dad heartthrobs.”

There’s Richard Yap, who’s better known as Ser Chief and now there’s Ian Veneracion, who portrays Eduardo Buenavista on the top-rating remake of Pangako Sa’Yo. Now, Jodi and Ian will be part of the upcoming Metro Manila Film Festival entry All You Need is Pag-ibig together with Kris Aquino, Derak Ramsay, Pokwang, Kim Chiu and Xian Lim.

Ian, during a recent interview, recognized that a huge factor of his popularity as a “dad crush” recently was due to Jodi.

“Definitely it’s her. I think ‘yung chemistry on and off screen kasi ‘yun nga we’ve known each other for a while,” he said.

The 33-year-old actress, for her part, explained that it was not solely because of her.

Siguro nagkataon lang kasi alam naman natin na si Richard at Ian ay mga makikisig at magagandang lalaki,” she said.

Jodi affirmed what Ian said though and mentioned that their chemistry also played a huge part since, “Hindi naman pwedeng isang tao lang ang nag-wo-work. Kailangan nagbibigayan. I think ‘yun talaga ang sikreto doon.

Jodi and Ian comfortably showed how close they are to each other during the interview that they even teased each other by calling each other “pretty” and “pogi.” According to them, that term of endearment was actually new since what they usually call each other is “Papa I” and “Mama Jods.”

"Palagi ko kasi siyang niloloko, kunyari pag may mall show [for Pangako Sa 'Yo], tatanungin ko yung mga tao, 'Di ba ang gwapo niya?' Tapos ilang na ilang na siya doon. Parang ayaw niyang i-acknowledge na magandang lalaki siya!” shared Jodi.

While he’s flattered and happy about being considered by many as a “dad crush,” Ian still “doesn’t take it personally.”

Lagi kong sinasabi na I’ve been in showbiz long enough and I realize that you don’t take things personally. Ako I enjoy the ride,” he said. “There are projects na maraming nakakapanood, sometimes merong projects na no one knows about. Wala, ganon lang ‘yun. Pero kapag may project na ganyan, eh di enjoy the ride. But it doesn’t mean na my future projects eh ganyan rin ang response/feedback.”
