Turns out Janella Salvador is well aware of the rumors that Megastar Sharon Cuneta doesn't want her songs remade.
This was confirmed by the OPM Pop Sweetheart herself during the recent press launch of her self-titled debut album. Part of her album is the Your Face Sounds Familiar's jury member’s song "Dear Heart" from her ‘80s debut film.
When asked about it, Janella asked a Star Music representative and said, "Alam ba niya [Sharon]? Sana alam niya."
The Haunted Mansion star continued, "Sana she liked my revival but siyempre nothing beats the original."
Apart from "Dear Heart" Janella also included a cover of Donna Cruz's hit "Kapag Tumibok ang Puso." A version of the song has her performing with love team partner Marlo Mortel while another version has her singing solo.
How did she own her version of the song?
"When I sing kasi ang iniisip ko lang is 'yung feeling and thoughts ko of being myself. Ayoko mag-copy ng ibang voice," she said.
With Donna slated to return into the recording scene, Janella expressed openness to work with the actress-singer.
Janella's limited edition debut album will be out in record stores this December. This includes the Disneyland Hong Kong 10th year anniversary theme song "Happily Ever After" sung by Janella.
