Jaclyn Jose attended the red carpet premiere of Andi Eigenmann's movie Angela Markado held last November 30 at SM Megamall to show her support for her daughter. The revenge-themed film is a remake of the 1980s Lino Brocka classic which originally starred Hilda Koronel. Jaclyn assured the public the new version by Carlo J. Caparas will do justice to the original movie. "Nakita ko kasi ang Angela Markado ni Hilda Koronel. Kay Lino Brocka yun. Eh in-adapt ito doon. Siguro to give importance dun sa ginawa ni direk Lino, I'm sure hindi nila ito papabayaan," she told Push.com.ph.
Jaclyn said her daughter is not worried even if people might compare her performance to the original movie. "Andi is different from Hilda Koronel. Iba si Andi. What I can say is masasabi ko naman na nabigyan naman ng justice ng anak ko yung ginawa ni Ms. Hilda Koronel. I also liked their poster," she admitted.
Angela Markado is aimed towards making the public aware about women's rights with Andi at the forefront according to the film's director. Jaclyn agreed that her daughter should be a symbol of strength for other women after seeing the film. "Okay yan. It's about time na lumaban ang mga kababaihan kapag may ginagawa sa kanila. Pero hindi ibig sabihin patayin yung mga nang-rape ah (laughs). Dapat lumapit sa pulis or NGO na tutulong," she said.
The veteran actress said she was initially worried for her daughter who had to endure numerous brutal rape scenes with five different actors. "Nag-wo-worry ako. Kasi si Andi sobrang tapang, walang pakialam kahit na yung nangyari sa kanya na nahulog siya dun sa Tragic Theater? Merong isang araw bigla kong nakita namaga yung legs niya. Matapang siya. Dito sa Angela Markado nag-kabayo yan, yung kabayong ginamit niya pang-jockey, pangkarera. Sabi ko, 'Oh my God Andi ano ba.' Matapang siya, sa mga ahas hinahawakan niya. Para sa pelikulang ito nag-aral siya dito ng Jujitsu at saka marami siyang pinag-aralan," she explained.
As a single mom herself, Jaclyn said she is proud of how her daughter is learning how to be a responsible parent. "She's okay. She's raising her child so well. Hindi naman sa wala kaming pakialam pero iniiwasan namin i-entertain yung negative thoughts. Si Andi is a very positive person eh. Pati yung anak niya si Ellie," she said.
With Andi recently admitting that there is a new non-showbiz guy in her life, Jaclyn admitted she would rather choose to be happy for her daughter. "Ewan ko sa kanya (laughs). Kami kasi we love to fall in love. Palagi kong sinasabi sa kanya yun na love is the most wonderful feeling that you can have. Ayan (laughs). Hayaan niyo na. Nagtratrabaho naman siya ng mahusay at magaling na nanay naman siya kay Ellie. Eh ang passion niya is work and to fall in love. Let her fall in love. Mamaya masaktan na naman ano? (laughs)" she added.
