Sam Milby gives advice to the PBB 737 finalists: ‘Enjoy the ride’

110615-sam_main.jpgSam Milby is the latest addition to the cast of the afternoon teleserye Doble Kara. Sam is also already working on the upcoming Kapamilya series Written in Our Stars as well as preparing for his 10th anniversary concert The Milby Way later this month at the KIA theater in Cubao, Quezon city. "When it was offered to me, nag-atubili ako just for the fact na may Written in the Stars ako and naranasan ko na yung dating sabay yung dalawang projects, yung isang movie at isang teleserye. Yung hirap at yung isip ko kung paano gagawin ko. Alam ko dati na pag sabay yung dalawang telesrye at movie, dun ako sa movie nakakapagpahinga kasi mas matagal yung set-up, mas konti yung eksena,” he shared during his Doble Kara solo presscon held last November 4 at Dong Juan restaurant in Quezon city.

After spending a few months in the US to do some auditions in Hollywood, Sam admitted he feels lucky to still get choice ABS-CBN projects. "That’s why I feel even more blessed. Even with the fact na I was gone for a few months and sa sobrang daming bago ngayon (na artista). It is a young market. It’s not like the States. Ang maganda sa States actually a lot of the actors start at around 30, yung parang their careers start at 30. Dito it’s puro bata. When I go to ASAP, I see so many young kids (laughs). When I started kasi sa ASAP parang ako yung nagku-kuya at ate tapos ngayon sila yung ‘Hi kuya Sam!’ or ‘Tito Sam!’ (laughs) Di ba? Parang matanda na ako,” he joked.

With his entry into Doble Kara, Sam admitted his work schedule this coming holiday season is going to be hectic. But still, the Fil-American hunk hopes he can still juggle his work and family life, especially now that his US-based parents are here on holiday. “I want to spend Christmas and New Year with my family. I just want to be with my family more. It’s hard because my dad, kaka-81 pa lang niya and he is still very strong and is still in good health. But as I get older I realize that it’s important to spend time with your family. It’s bittersweet para sa akin itong project na ito. One thing also that I would love to do habang andito yung mga magulang ko is that we have time to spend together because dire-diretso din yung tapings I’m sure I won’t have much time with them at all. It’s hard because I would love to spend more time with my family din. Of course they would understand. I’m sure they will visit me on the set lagi and kung may time siyempre kasama ko sila,” he shared.

With the finals night of Pinoy Big Brother 737 coming up, Sam said his own experience of being a housemate in the first season was an eye-opener for him. He shared some words of wisdom for the latest batch of housemates entering showbiz. "Appreciate everything. Enjoy the ride. I would never have thought ten years ago that I would still be working here and that I would still be here. I never thought 11 years ago that I would be here at all. I was working as a server at a restaurant 11 years ago. I always wanted to acting naman. It’s a blessing to have work. Just enjoy it. Prepare and learn all you can and just enjoy the ride din,” he said.
