On Tonight with Boy Abunda, proud father Benjie Paras shared snippets of his life as a father to Kobe and Andre who are both making waves in the sports and showbiz industries.
One of the stars of the upcoming movie Wang Fam, Benjie talked about the display of affection showed by his sons on social media in celebration of his birthday. The actor shared, “Hindi pa uso itong Twitter o Instagram, they used to write, they would make me a birthday card. Sila gagawa nun tapos gagawa sila kung ano yung gusto nilang sabihin, anong gusto nilang isulat. Sa tingin ko nadala na nila, and not only them but also my six- and four-year-old kids.
Sabi ko, ‘Nakikita ko nga, but you need to make a decision right away.
The actor was asked hypothetically what his reaction would be if one day, Andre would come up to him and say, “Dad, nakabuntis ako.” With a deep breath, the actor replied, “Katulad nung sinasabi nung ibang magulang na yung tinatago yung frustration, sasabihin ko lang, ‘andiyan na yan, so ayusin natin ng tama, and gawin natin yung maitutulong natin.’”
The host verified, “Ang ibig sabihin ng ayusin natin ng tama, would you ask your son to marry the girl?”
Pero kung as far as the baby is concerned, kung ano yung nararapat para doon sa bata.”
The actor’s other son, Kobe, is now in the US with the hope of becoming a future NBA player. On this, Benjie shared, “I always take it one step at a time, sa ngayon kasi, pumasok sya ng high school. And now, iniiisip namin for him, is for him to play for college.
“He’s really fond of playing for the national team kaya gustong-gusto niyang bumalik dito, to represent our country,” he added.
Again, the actor was asked hypothetically asked what his reaction would be if one day, his son Kobe would come up to him and say, “I’m gay.” Benjie thought about it and said, “Hindi ko maisip ang isasagot ko.
The host remarked on Benjie being a very attractive man and then asked, “Niligawan ka ng bakla?”
Wala naman pong lumalapit,” the actor shared.
