Jason Dy launches self-titled debut album

112615-jason_main.jpgThe Voice of the Philippines season 2 grand winner Jason Dy performed two singles, “Caught In That Feeling” and “Milagro.” from his self-titled debut album during a bloggers conference last Wednesday night, November 25.

His new album under MCA Music entitled Jason Dy features a total of 11 songs— 9 originals, one with an acoustic version and one song cover. Did he do any collaborations for this album?

Wala po. ‘Yung mga ibang songs lang diyan ay ako po ang nagrecord lahat. ‘Yung iba, ako pong nagsulat and then sa others naman po ay ‘yung mga songwriters po na magagaling po sa OPM,” he answered.

Among all of these tracks, which one is his most favorite and why?

Siguro ‘yung ‘I Am Something’ kasi ako po ang nagsulat po nun and ‘yung song po kasi na iyon, matagal ko na pong naisulat and it talked about parang dealing with self-worth,” he said, sharing that there was a time in his life when he questioned his singing career.

So it talks about other people who might be going through the same thing I was going through. Gusto ko sana iinspire sila na… they are worth something and ‘yung pangarap nila ay valid. Your dreams are valid so ayun, it was kind of a letter to myself and to other people who are going through the same thing. Kaya ko siya favorite kasi malapit siya sa akin,” he elaborated.

When asked which tracks he found the most challenging to record, he answered, “Actually ‘yung ‘Milagro’ na single kasi medyo tongue-twister ‘yung song so nahirapan ako dun sa phrasing at saka si Sir Jungee (Marcelo), wordy magsulat ng song which I really like…” He then added that when he was recording the song, he studied how he would deliver it. Nonetheless, he said that the song turned out well.

Another song he found challenging was “Break My Heart Some More.” “Kasi medyo mataas ‘yung parang bridge nun.”

Now that he has launched his debut album, Jason talked about planning his concert. “Yes (may plans to have a concert). Pinag-uusapan po namin ‘yun with the label ‘yung concert. Hopefully, early next year sana magkaroon. Gusto ko po sanang ipromote muna ng mabuti ‘yung mga singles and ‘yung album to establish muna my music talaga. Gusto kong pag nagconcert ako, if not the majority, at least kalahati ng mga songs na kakantahin ko ay from the album. Hopefully, matuloy siya early next year,” he said.
