Cyrus Villanueva was emotional when he was hailed champion.
Nineteen-year old Filipino-Australian Cyrus Villanueva made Filipinos proud after winning this year’s The X Factor
Australia on November 24.
Before the announcement of the winner, there were three acts were left: Cyrus from Wollongong, New South Wales, Louise Adams from Mt. Gambier and the duo from Sydney, Jess Dunbar and Matt Price. The duo was the first one who got eliminated while Louise and Cyrus had a showdown.
Cyrus then thanked his supporters on his Twitter account.
After winning, he emotionally sang his first single “Stone.” He then gave a message to the audience and to his mentor Chris Isaak.
“I want to thank God for blessing me with the gift of music that I've been so blessed to share with you all.”
“I’m so proud of him,” Chris said.
Aside from the Top 3 acts and judges Chris Isaak, James Blunt, Dannii Minogue, and Guy Sebastian, present during the finale were the Top 12 contestants and artists In Stereo, Kylie Minogue, and Jason Derulo.
Before winning, Cyrus had a remarkable performance on Monday, November 23, with The Weekend’s “Earned It.” This was also the first song that he sang during the auditions.
“Very fitting that you would sing the lyrics 'earned it' and 'deserved it' because you definitely earned your position on the finals,” judge Guy Sebastian said.
“This guy has the X factor and tonight he’s going to prove it,” his mentor Chris added.
What made the judges more impressed was when he performed his “winner song” “Stone” during the Live Show 9. He also showed his talent in playing piano while singing Labrinth’s “Jealous”.
