Richard Yap is ready to do fight scenes in ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’

112115-richardyap_PUSH.jpgAfter revealing that he will enter FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as a kontrabida, Kapamilya actor Richard Yap shared how he prepared for his new role.

“Pinapanood ko nga ‘yung mga anti-heroes, ‘yung ibang mga kontrabida. Naghahanap ako ng mga something to peg my character on. Ang nakita kong character na ganon is more on si Jet Li sa Lethal Weapon. Somebody who’s very cool pero very lethal,” he said, adding that his character, Philip Tang, has a syndicate that will have a business with Albert Martinez’s character Tomas.

What did his supporters feel that from a leading man role, he will now portray an antagonist? “Ang sabi naman nila, they also look forward to seeing me in a different kind of role. Siguro out of a hundred comments, isa o dalawa lang ang kumontra so mostly, positive naman na at least, something different,” he answered.

Richard said that he is also certain that his character will eventually meet Cardo, played by Coco Martin, in the show. “Siyempre nasa sindikato kami, si Coco nasa police force, I’m sure there will come a time na magkakabanggaan din kami.”

Hence, he said that they will also have fight scenes. When asked if he trained for that, he replied, “Actually hindi ko naman kailangan ng training because I have a background in… Nag-Taekwondo ako, nag-Aikido, nag-Chinese Kung Fu ako noong bata pa ako. And then, I’m also a shooter so I know how to handle guns. Ano rin, archery. I was an archer… so may alam ako sa mga weapons.”
