Monica Sacay extends her run in the original Pinoy musical ‘Bituing Walang Ningning.’
With her role as Dorina Pineda in the musical Bituing Walang Ningning
extended until January next year, Monica Sacay admitted it feels like Christmas came early for her this year.
she told Push.com.ph
during Resort World Manila’s kick-off event for its 6th Grand Fiesta Manila celebration this year.
The 20-year-old former Star Power finalist said a lot has changed since she first took the stage earlier this year. Kinakabahan pa rin ako but in a good way. Ang nagbago maybe the confidence kasi before naman nung 2010 sa Star Power although andun naman yung confidence but parang ibang iba ngayon kasi meron na akong guts to become somebody that I can say, ‘This is me. I am proud of myself.’ Kasi before natatakot pa ako mag-explore. It’s because of my past. Now I really have confidence and faith,” she explained.
With the second run of Bituing Walang Ningning, Monica admitted she had to adjust to some casting changes. The biggest of which was for the role of Lavinia which was taken over by Antoinette Taus after Cris Villonco. Meron lang silang difference from attacking a character,” she said.
Another thing in store for Monica in 2016 is acting on television which she is very excited about. "Actually go with the flow naman ako. Pero ngayon so far binigyan ako ng chance and I’ll be doing a TV series maybe next year,”
Getting to work with one of her original showbiz crushes is an added bonus for the talented Cebuana. "Sobrang kinabahan ako kasi nung first nga sabi nila I’m going to be working with James Reid. He’s so talented kasi. Mabait, musician, ganun,” she added.
Monica said even her first encounter with the two hunky Pinoy Big Brother Teens alumni was a moment to remember and James made it even more personal for her. "Na-meet ko na sila. Actually hindi ako makapagsalita but I was so happy kasi nung nagkita kami last 2010 and then nagkita kami bago lang. He said, ‘Yeah I remember you.’ Sabi ko, ‘Wow to remember me, that was a long time ago.’ I’m so happy kasi hindi talaga siya nakakalimot sa mga tao,” she said.
For the holidays, Monica said she is really looking forward to flying back to Cebu after doing her last Bituing Walang Ningning show for the year on December 15."I’m going home pero sa New Year I’m going to be here spending the night with Resorts World kasi meron akong countdown event,” she said.
